Bible Reading: Ruth 4
Memory Verse: Ruth 4: 9-10
Then Boaz announced to the elders and all the people, “Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion and Mahlon. I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from his hometown. Today you are witnesses!”
Good morning everyone! Hope you had a wonderful night. We give God all the glory and the thanks for giving us life this morning. The Ruth Series is gradually coming to an end. After today’s episode, there are four episodes more in this series.
Today’s issue is the fifteenth episode of this series. So far, by the Grace of God, it has been an inspiration to many. These messages are being read by people from all over the world; we bless and thank God for this. For His Work is working and transforming the lives of many nations. Amen.
Today we are looking at God being our guardian redeemer and witness. From the passages you have read over the past 3 weeks, we have seen the word “Guardian- Redeemer” appear so many times. Do you have an idea of who or what these people are about? Well, “Guardian- Redeemers” is the ancient Israel was a legal term for a person who (has the obligation) to redeem a relative in serious difficulty. As the name suggests, the person is supposed to redeem you from all your pains and struggles.
You will realise that when I was giving the definition of guardian- redeemer, I put in brackets the words “has the obligation.” I did this because it is not so. A guardian- redeemer has the option to redeem a person or not to. This is because at times its either the guardian- redeemer cannot afford to add the sufferings of a person to his or he is just not interested in redeeming the person. In the passage in Ruth 4, we see that the guardian- redeemer of Elimelek refused to be the guardian- redeemer of Naomi and Ruth because he believed that it will cost him a lot. The responsibility was then given to the person next in line, which was Boaz.
God is our Guardian- Redeemer! He has redeemed us from all the sufferings and pains that you and I have because of sin. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to take away our sins. God made the decision to be our Guardian- Redeemer. He could have decided to let us continue to willow in our sins. He was so hurt and sad that we were turning away from Him and suffering. He in turn sent His Son. Is our God not awesome? That is why in the Bible it says that when you accept Christ, “the old gone and the new has come!”
Not only has God redeemed us from sin but He has redeemed us from every on- going battle with the devil. So why fret? For you have the King of Kings, redeeming you and hiding you away from the enemy in the blood of Jesus Christ. Tell me, are you to be afraid when the enemy comes. From last week, I learnt that it is by we do this because we cannot underestimate the enemy. God has made us more powerful than the enemy. We can defeat him if we have faith that yes indeed we are more powerful then him. Most Christians are scared and underestimate the power we carry.
The other part of this message is to share with you that God is our WITNESS. When someone has been taken to court and s/he is pleading out his/ her case, witnesses are called upon to come and defend the suspect’s story. God is our witness. He has defended our case and we are free. Is that not amazing? It truly is.
When you look in the passage, Boaz called the elders to witness the happenings between him and the guardian- redeemer. These people were supposed to agree or disagree with what was going on. They had the power to stop what was about to happen. God is our witness in this case as well. Everything that has happened, is happening and is about to happen has been witnessed and agreed upon by God. He does this for our own good; not to hurt us. He is our witness in the heavenly realms and makes sure that only the things He has agreed upon happen to us! How amazing! Praise God.
All these privileges are felt by God’s children. Are you God’s Child? Have you accepted Christ into your heart as your Lord and personal Saviour? If not, it is important you must so that you can experience God’s blessing and favour. And so that you can be part of God’s wonderful and awesome family. If you haven’t, please take a few minutes to pray this prayer.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He came to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fil me and cleanse me sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.
After saying this short prayer, I would like to say welcome to God’s family. Heaven and all the angels are jubilating. Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord,

God is our Guardian- Redeemer and Witness. Is that not awesome? He has blessed us and protected us from the enemy’s wrath. What a loving God He is. Have you ever seen a love so generous and pure as this?
