Bible Reading: Genesis 4
Memory Verse: Genesis 4: 7b
“If you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? How was your day? I hope it was great like mine was. We are on Part 14 of the Genesis Story. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to every single one of you reading this daily dose today. God richly bless you. You could have used your time for something else, but you chose to read Sammie’s Daily Dose. Thank you very much and God bless you, once again. Most importantly, I would like to say thank you to God for choosing me to be the person to embark on this. I give you all the glory, honour and adoration.
In today’s daily dose we would looking at the effects of sin in our lives. Like the popular saying goes, “Prevention is better than cure.” We would be looking at the effects of sin; which would serve as a reminder of why we should not give the enemy any chance.
To begin this message, let us look at this example. Imagine you are a businessman or a businesswoman, and you are avoiding tax payments. Once you avoid payments for the first few times you feel happy and excited. All your profits are returning back to you. But you will be caught one day. Once you start evading tax, you open the door to many other unlawful things. If you evade tax, what prevents you from doing worse things such as money laundering or fraud.
John 8:34 says; Jesus answered to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.” Here Jesus is telling us that once you start sinning, it is the gateway for other sins. You will need to commit more sins to cover up your original sin. In such a case, you will be growing a sin-fruit tree. And eventually it will catch up with you because in John 10: 10, the Bible tells us that “The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” The enemy’s goal is make sure that you end up facing one of these tragedies.
However, God assures that in Him, we are assured of a great end. Of eternity with Him in heavenly realms. When you continue to read John 10:10, it says “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” This is to show you that He is the way and He has accomplished it already. It is up to us to decide which side we would want to take. God’s way is final and done. You realise that when God was referring to himself He used the past tense. Why? Well, He had sent His son to die on the cross to save us from sin; it is done. When you look at the part of the verse talking about the enemy it is in the present tense. The enemy himself is cannot do anything to you, unless you allow him to. That is why this part of the verse is in the present tense.
I want to ask you a few questions. “Is it not much better to follow a God who has already saved you, that to follow someone who cannot save you?” “Is it not better to follow the God of past, present and future; than a person that knows of only the present?” Think about these questions!
In our Bible reading, we saw that Cain became very angry because God did not favour him. His anger was the gateway to enemy stealing his anointing. God prompted him about it, however he did not listen. He took matters into his own hands and went on to kill his brother. At this point, on sin had led to another. Cain had invited sin to consume his life and for that he was punished. When we are conflicted at a crossroad, God always comes to remind us to make a good decision. He never forces you, just like in Cain’s situation. He comes to gently remind you. In the same vain, I want to encourage you to choose God all the time. Do not let sin crouch your door, so that you can enjoy eternal life in Christ. Hallelujah!
After reading this message, do you wish to enjoy eternal life, then you must accept Christ into your heart. To do this, kindly repeat this prayer with all sincerity.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.
If you said this prayer, congratulations! You are now part of God’s family. Heaven is jubilating by your welcome. Hallelujah! You have been given new life. Hallelujah! You are already walking in eternity. To do so, I would encourage you to get yourself a Bible- in a version that you understand. Read it constantly. By doing this, you would be able to know and understand God better; as well as grow Spiritually. I will encourage you to find a Bible- believing church to attend, so that you can fellowship with other Christians.
Now, for all of us (both newly-converts and all other Christians), you must pray to God to help you to make the decision. It is not always easy to make the decision to follow God. There are times where the wrong way looks more fruitful than God’s way.
I pray that God gives all of you the strength and the zeal to continue in Christ. I am urging you to not let sin crouch at your door. Shalom!
Have a wonderful evening and let God inspire you.
Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I pray that you protect me and my family this night. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
