The Genesis Story: Part 119- Have you Blocked God's Word (& The Holy Spirit)?

Topic: Have we blocked God's Word (& The Holy Spirit)?

Bible Reading: Genesis 34

Memory Verse: Genesis 34:31

But they replied, “Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?”

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? I hope your day is going on smoothly. Mine is. God is renewing my mind and my heart each day; I am very grateful and happy for how far He has brought me. Today, we would be looking at the same verse as last Wednesday, but with a new twist. We would be looking at having a “Spirit-filled mind.”

This message was planned to be posted last thursday. Unfortunately, I was unable to post. I felt that this should be posted today because many would be blessed by the message. I encourge you to read this message till the end! Are you ready to embark on this journey? Well, then! Let us get right into it!

From the verse we are exploring, we are looking at how Simeon and Levi had shut their minds and their ears to the wise words of their father. They thought that they were right and justified. They did not seem to appreciate the words of their father, Jacob. Are we like Simeon and Levi? Do we block out the things need to hear? Do we block out God’s Word?

There are many Christians who block their minds, hearts, and most importantly, their ears to God’s word. This is wrong! We must always keep our emotions and feelings separate from God’s Word. From speaking with many different people, they find it very difficult to do so. Then I began to wonder why this happens and to ask God for an answer.

The answer God gave was very simple and short. He said, “They have not submitted themselves to me.” Once He said this, I paused for a second and thought. This statement is very true. Most of the time, we allow our human nature to creep in once in a while. However, that is not how we are to live our lives. This is because our human nature is sinful; you and I need Christ to take full control of our lives (to be separate from sin).

The question is how can we achieve total submission? That’s a very good question. Do you know that many Christians, including some Pastors, Prophets, Preachers, etc., have not fully submitted their lives to God? Yup! They haven’t! A lot them (some may be very “powerful”) but they have not submitted themselves to God. Submitting yourself to God means that you have buried all your human feelings, motives and thinking. Well, the important question is, “How do I fully submit to God?”

Well, this process takes time. It is a battle against your body and the enemy. You have to prepare your mind and your heart for the journey. It also takes consistency and dedication to want/ embrace the change. Before you embark on the journey, you must seek help from the holy Spirit. Ask him to guide you, teach you, protect you and give you the strength to go through the journey. The journey involves making tough decisions, going through many trials and making a lot of sacrifices. But it is worth it! Like Mark 8:36 says, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?”

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, are you ready to embark on this journey? Do you want to submit yourselves fully to God? It requires spending a lot of time at his feet learning and listening to his Word. It also involves a conscious and conscientious decision to allow God and the Holy Spirit to take total control of your life. You ready?

If you are, go to God! Place your requests to Him! Invite the Holy Spirit to help you! Every one’s journey is different. God, himself, would show you the exact steps to take. He will be with you every step of the way! Hallelujah! My dear brother and sister in Christ it is a necessary journey to take; but it is by choice. God is not going to force you to do anything you do not want to do. Think about it and make a decision.

The prayer below is for anyone who has had the feeling to come to Christ for a while now but have not done anything about it. Make the decision today to accept God’s call.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
