The Genesis Story: Part 140- Christ... Our Intecessor!

Topic: The Genesis Story: Christ…. Our Intercessor!

Bible Reading: Genesis 44

Memory Verse: Genesis 44:20

And we said to my lord, “We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, who is young; his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother’s children, and his father loves him.”

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? It has been a while since our last post. Well, remember Sammie’s Daily Dose in your prayers. Pray that God gives me the strength to put Him first before anything else.

Today, we are continuing the Genesis story. This is Part 140 of this series; we would be touching on the topic: Christ, Our Intercessor! We would be using Judah’s intercession for Benjamin as a symbolic representation of Christ’s intercession for God's children. Are you ready for today’s message? Well, if you are let us get right to it.

From Genesis 44, we see that Benjamin and his brothers are sent back to Egypt; after Joseph’s silver cup was found amongst Benjamin’s things. Usually, with a case of suspected robbery (though false in this case), the suspect is sent to jail or prison; awaiting a hearing to be bailed out. However, this was not the case, Benjamin and his brothers were escorted back to Joseph’s house. There, they went straight up to him (Joseph).

Upon arrival, Judah begins to intercede for Benjamin. Judah explains to Joseph the special bond/ relationship Benjamin and their father have. Judah also laid down the conditions with which Benjamin was allowed on the trip. He, then, proposed that he, Judah, take the fall/ blame for the crime; instead of, his little brother.

This passage, I must say I have been reading for a long while. However, as I was reading the passage once more this morning, the Holy Spirit led me to write this message. Just like Judah, Christ intercedes on our behalf. You and I are like Benjamin; we are very dear to God’s heart. Just like a good “older” brother would, Jesus intercedes on our behalf, in our times of trouble. He came to the cross to die for our sins. By this, He made us (children of God) conquerors. No matter the position you are or whatever you are fighting, He continually intercedes for us in the battle field as well.

Just like Judah, who had no doubts about his sacrifice for his brother; Christ sacrificed and continuously sacrifices for us. We have such a loving brother. Yes, Christ is our brother! He is our friend! He is our Lord!

Today’s message is a very concise and straight-to-the-point message. Christ is our Intercessor. So if you are going through turmoil, if you have done something wrong or not; know that you have someone who is interceding for you every day, every hour, every minute and every second.

All you need to do is call upon him. He would help you through your war. He has placed his life on the cross for you and made you a conqueror by His blood. I pray that this message soothes you, encourages you and comforts you! Know that Christ is interceding for you today! Everything is definitely alright. It has been alright all along! Believe in this statement and live in Joy today! God bless you!

IMPORTANT NOTE!!!

The prayer below is for anyone who does not know God or maybe has been apart from God for a while. God is here to pour His favor over your life. All you have to do is call out to Him. Make that decision today!

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you said this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out
