Isaiah’s Truths: Lesson 27: Are you ready to serve?

Bible Reading: Isaiah 6 (ESV)

Memory verse: Isaiah 6: 8

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

Good evening, ladies, and gentlemen! How has your week been? Another wonderful week is ending! The month of November ends in approximately a week! 2023 is ending! December (my favourite month of the year) is here already! This year has been a long yet seemingly short year! In all things, we give Glory to God, for His Grace and Mercies throughout the year! Ladies and gentlemen, though we are expectant of the new year, God is not done with you yet! All the promises He had declared over your life, will surely come to pass in this year! There is more than enough time for that breakthrough! God can change things in a split second or a day or an hour! Just continue to look up to Him! It is not always easy; however, we would like to encourage you to continue to tarry in the Lord! He is Faithful and Just! He will come through for you!

Today’s post explores our readiness for service! Dear reader, are you ready for God to use you? No matter what the assignment may be? No matter what you have go through and/ or sacrifice? Well, are you ready for today’s post? Authored by the Holy Spirit and delivered by Sammie’s Bible Dose! Let us get right into it!

This verse begins with a question from God- he is looking for someone to send! The first phrase, “Whom shall I send…” suggests that God was thinking about a suitable candidate. It could be that there were several people He may have been considering. In the vein, it could have been the reverse- just a few people were being considered. The second phrase, “…and who will go for us” suggests that it was important, and the Lord thought about it or had been deliberating the matter for a while!

This entire sentence reveals that there is a difference between eligibility and action/service! God’s question was in two-fold- the first considering potential candidates for the task at hand and second, ready and willing servants. You see, as Children of God, we are eligible candidates for God’s work- no matter what it may be! However, one can be a candidate but not in service. Why? The person is not ready and willing to obey God’s call. A child of God may not have taken the decision to resent God because God’s work forces us to work out of our comfort zones! Making such a decision means dedication, sacrifice and love towards the task at hand! We always think that serving God means an evangelistic assignment to a foreign land or full-time work in the church. God can call you to serve just where you are! Are you open to His directions and instructions? It is very important that we learn to work on our hearts and minds as Children of God! His Grace is sufficient to help us through the transition period- all you must do is to make the decision to choose Him! Hallelujah!

Isaiah’s response to God’s question shows His character and reverence for God! Without knowing what the assignment was or questioning God, Isaiah accepted saying, “Here I am! Send me.” How many of us have the courage to do this? Boldly accepting God’s call symbolises many things. It shows that you have total trust in Him. This move shows that you acknowledge the Power of God! Most importantly, it shows that you revere and fear Him! Hopefully, we all aim to get to such heights in our spiritual journey!

Dear readers, from today’s piece, we see that God is searching for His people who are willing to obey His call! Can you confidently say that God can “rely” on you to take that step for Him? Are you ready for service? As children of God, we must be open and ready to serve always, as a token of appreciation and gratitude to God! After all, this life we live is not our now. Why are we always in a rush; planning and scheming for earthly things (bound by “human” time), when they don’t matter in eternity?

Do not get me wrong; I am not saying that one should not work hard, plan and enjoy the fruits of the earth. Oh no! All these come as rewards from God! The main question is, “What is the driving force behind it?” There’s no extensive training for the qualification. We qualify the moment we give our lives for Christ! Like our decision to choose salvation, we must decide to be ready for service! It gets better! Once you accept, provision will be made by God Himself! It doesn’t end there! It gets better! He is going to be with you through that journey!

Ladies and gentlemen, as we go into the weekend in a couple of days, let us begin to seek the Holy Spirit’s help on this matter! It is very important! We will urge you to take it very seriously! Service is very important to God- that’s the avenue by which the Great Commission may be fulfilled! Your service is like a sweet fragrance of sacrifice to Him! Hallelujah!

Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!

If this is your first-time hearing about Christ, or you have made the decision to make Him the center of your life, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity and truth.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son, and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family.  You get to enjoy the freedom, salvation, and eternal life! Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is rejoicing on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are,

1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word, day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
