VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE!! SLIGHTLY LENGTHY!
Happy New Year! We are six days into the new year- by God’s Grace! We are still enjoying the “feels” of a new year! We thank God for life; having the ability to enjoy this new year with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours.
Normally, every declaration/ theme for the year comes in a prophetic word and scripture. This year is quite different. This year, the prophetic word came with scripture and a message. It is my prayer that as I present this message to you, as a Servant of God- the Father, Son, and Spirit- you will open your hearts to it and prayerfully respond to the message.
This message comes in five parts. There’s a message about the church and the Christian body. A message about the global/ political scene. A message for the people. A message for us (Born-again Children of God). Lastly, there is a message with instructions on what to do and what to pay attention to this year! Let us get right into this message!
The Year of Reformation- Introduction
Conversations with the Holy Spirit on this message began just after the Israel- Gaza war broke out. The Holy Spirit said, “This is the beginning of the Reformation.” With that, I began to start my work on doing research on the word, “Reformation”. Here’s a bit about what I learnt through my research.
There is a major period and/event in history that is classified as “The Reformation.” This era is known as the birth of the Protestant Church, where Martin Luther opposed the Catholic Church- especially the power and authority of the Pope. Martin Luther, together with three other individuals caused a stir throughout Europe. What they began caused a change in the Christian religion, the rights of people, politics, and the economy. The effect of this era is still experienced today. In addition to this, there are other periods/ events in history that are described to be like “The Reformation.” An example is the suffragettes- the campaign that fought for the rights of women to vote. In all these events/ periods of history, there were drastic changes to institutions, organisations, ways of living and transactions. These changes affect our society even now.
In every reformative period, religion, politics/ economy, and the people are affected. We will see an effect on these three pillars this year as well. This is the kind of change that the Holy Spirit shared; will take place in this year. What exactly did the Holy Spirit reveal? Let us get right into it.
The Church
The Lord said that the church will come under severe scrutiny. There will be a lot of exposure. We will hear a lot of news of exposure in churches across the world- especially some of the big and/or mega churches that have millions of followers. Many false prophets, preachers, teachers, and evangelists will be brought to light. There will be exposure in the systems and governance of the church- elders and undisclosed persons running the “show” behind the church. In 2 Timothy 3:2-5, the Bible talks about how the last days will see the church full of false believers- Matthew 24:4-5 speaks on this as well). The last part of 2 Timothy 3:5 says, “So avoid people like these.” In 2024, we must be led by the Word and the Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit for discernment and conformation. Go back to the word, let the Holy Spirit teach you and direct you. It is a period to be very sensitive and focus on God- through our INTIMACY with Him.
God is bringing change to His body. He is raising an army from all generations and all walks of life to continue the work of the revival- for He has poured out His Spirit on all kinds of men (Joel 2:28-32). The work of The Great Commission will be propelled. God has been training and preparing servants across the nations to serve Him and the nations. Hallelujah!
Politics
The Global political and economic scene will suffer a lot of turbulence, says the Lord- Revelations 17-18. We will see some economies crash and some economies will be shaken. Strong currencies will become weak, giving way to new form(s) of economic exchange.
We will see powerful nations fall to the ground and others lose their power/ authority in the global atmosphere. The world has been run without God. The global political and economic scene has been driven by idolatrous people who prioritise wealth, power, opportunity, etc. above God’s Will.
World leaders and some wealthy drivers of the global economy will be exposed. The conspiracies, strategies and plans hatched for various agendas will come to light (Luke 8:17- for all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.)
Countries will fight against each other for reasons unfathomable to the world says the Lord. There will be lots of rumours about wars- Matthew 24:6. Natural disasters and phenomenon will be the order of the news. Headlines such as, “This weather has never been experienced in this part of the world!” will be seen across the media (Deuteronomy 31:17). These are holes being poked to cripple the economy of many nations. Lots of money will be pumped into providing “relief” for the nations. This will also lead to a power struggle amongst nations, as nations scurry for resources.
People
There will be a lot of fear and panic amongst the people of this world says the Lord. Groups of people within countries will demand their voice to be heard. We will see lots of movements seeking freedom to practise their rights- issues on migration, lgbtq+ issues, etc. There will be a lot of mistrust in rulers of nations and governments. This will lead to many disagreements surrounding elections and electoral processes.
Children of God/ Servants of God
This year is going to be a tough year- for those without God. There will be separation- everyone will clearly see those who are for God and those who are not. As Children of God, we must be ready- with open hearts- to follow God’s direction for our lives. Prepare for various assignments for the growth of the Kingdom. During this period, God will be speaking directly to the hearts of His people. We must spend quality time in His presence so we may know Him and know His voice (John 10:27-28), so we do not miss the call.
This year, God will be pruning the vineyard. There will be many tests. Like the popular saying goes, “You will be tested to the core!” This might mean people may lose their jobs or plans will be thwarted but we must remain hidden in Christ. Our focus must continuously be on Him (2 Corinthians 12:10). We live a life of Faith (Galatians 2:20), no matter what might be experiencing, as Children of God we know that God is with us and directing our paths. It will be very difficult without God this year. We must make sure to stick with Him. [1 Peter 4:12-19]
He is refining and discipling His people (Hebrews 12:5-13). In the same vein He is rewarding His people with new giftings. We will see the birth of new giftings amongst His people.
What must we do?
This year, more than ever, pursue an INTIMATE relationship with God- it is the defining factor. This year our Faith in God will carry us through (Romans 1:16-17). This year, we do not take anything lightly. We must stand on the authority and power we have in Christ to claim God’s promises for our lives this year (Daniel 11:32b). You see, God wants to intercede on our behalf. This period of reformation is to separate His people from others to propel His mission. God is exposing the cracks and weak links. With that, the influence of Christ will be felt throughout the community- Jesus will be trending again (Nathaniel Bassey, Hallelujah Challenge 2023). His Glory will be seen by all (Habakkuk 2:14).
In 2024, there is a lot in store for the Children of God. Our main verse is Daniel 11:32b (NKJV) “…BUT THE PEOPE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD SHALL BE STRONG AND CARRY OUT GREAT EXPLOITS.” To know our God, we must spend quality time with Him. This year we must not take our Quiet Time, prayer, Bible Reading, Bible Study, etc. for granted. Yearn for the things of God. Allow the Holy Spirit to reform our minds- discarding all the old beliefs and thoughts and exposing the Will of God to us. For this year, God will PROVIDE, PROTECT and POSITION us!
Ladies and gentlemen, go to church! Do not compromise on fellowship! God speaks to us through the church. Pray for the church and its leaders. Pray for ministry leaders, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and pastors- servants of God- and honour them. As we are living in a spiritually sensitive season, we must be careful of our words- they are Spirit and Life. With our words, we are creating the results we want to see this year through the Spirit of Christ that lives in us (Proverbs 18:21) With your words, we declare all that is written and claim them with faith and hope (Romans 4:17-18).
Finally, the message you must confess in these times of trial is Isaiah 41:10 (ESV), which says, “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Let us stand boldly and firmly on this promise of God as we go through 2024! It is a glorious time for the Kingdom! God’s Glory shall reign! Hallelujah!
