Isaiah’s Truths: Lesson 24: Our Glorious and Mighty King (Part 2)!

Bible Reading: Isaiah 6 (ESV)

Memory verse: Isaiah 6: 2-3

Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

Good evening, ladies, and gentlemen! The end of another week is drawing near! This week, we celebrated the transition into a new month! Hallelujah! May this month bring forth Grace-filled and Grace-backed encounters and testimonies as you continue to tarry in the Lord- and claim all God’s promises for your life this year!!

Welcome! Today’s blog post is the continuation of the Isaiah’s Truths series. Additionally, it is the second part of our analyses of God, Our Glorious and Mighty King- through the words of Isaiah in Isaiah 6. Lesson 23 of this series was awesome! There were some profound revelations by the Holy Spirit which surprised me! Learning about God is beautiful! One gets to discover something new or gain some extra knowledge, despite knowing a lot about Him throughout your Faith Journey! Its beautiful! God keeps revealing more and more of Himself, as we grow in Him!

Ready to know more about this God we serve and revere? Well, let us get right into today’s blog post! Let’s go!

The seraphim are highest ranking being in the hierarchy of angels. The six-winged seraphim (which is referenced in this verse- “each had six wings...”), is usually red in colour. This symbolizes fire! Additionally, the seraphim are known to be the angels carrying the throne. Coming from the description we have from the last blog piece, we see that God presence commands a lot of Power, Might and Glory! Now, we get to appreciate the authority and presence of God as a Mighty Spiritual Being! Can you imagine the Holiness that exudes this Being- God!

We know that there is a bright light that encompasses our Lord. We see many accounts across the Bible; telling us when light from God is not visible with the eye! It is too bright! Yes, that is His Holiness! God’s Holiness exudes light! We are unworthy of coming close to Him or even seeing His face! That is why He sent His Son, Jesus; to pay the price so we have the chance to become like Him!

In these verses the seraphim are performing four main acts- covering his Face, covering his feet, aiding him to fly and lastly, worshipping Him! You must remember that as one of the highest-ranking angels, God created these been to be holy. However, they are not as holy as Him, they are still unworthy before the presence of God. From the verse, we see that two wings covered his face. This act is to help conceal the light and radiance of God. Remember, God’s Holiness exudes so much brightness and radiance that no one can look directly at Him- even the angels. We, through Christ, can become like-Christ!

Secondly, the verse tells us that two wings “…covered his feet…” This shows respect and reverence to God. Just like we bow at someone’s feet, out of respect and to acknowledge the person’s authority and power! The third role of the seraphim is to fly. Remember, these angels were created carry the throne, simply put to help attend to the throne. He is flying around God to help in fulfilling his role of service to the throne. From this, we get to see that God’s presence commands us to Fear Him! From this, you can confirm that He is indeed, the King of Kings and Lord of lords. He, indeed, has power over the heavens and the earth! Try and picture this, God sitting on the throne, with these fiery-red beings flying around Him (showing reverence to Him). God wearing His priestly garments (a train which filled the temple, etc.)! Wow! The magnitude of such a presence will make anyone speechless. It commands respect and honour1 That is why God is the Highest of every spiritual (and physical) being! Anyone or anything that comes before Him is forced to bow down to Him in reverence! That is the reason many Christians say that once you have experienced God you will never be the same again! One can truly, truly be the same before such a Powerful and Mighty Being! Hallelujah!

Now let us look at the last action of the seraphim in verse 3. He was worshipping God saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” wow! Even the angels were created to worship Him! Everything created was done in reverence of Him- to worship Him! The seraphim emphasize God’s Holiness by saying it three times. That’s His Name- Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts!!! In Hebrew, we would say Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh (Adonai) YHWH Tzevaot. Wow! What does this mean? It means that God has the power and authority to command all living things- spiritual and earthly beings! Wow! Yes Lord, You alone, are worthy of our Praise! Praise be to Him who sits upon the Throne! Oh GOD!
