Date: 17th February 2023

Topic: Isaiah’s Truths: Lesson 20: Are you in constant communication with God?

Bible Reading: Isaiah 5 (ESV)

Memory verse: Isaiah 5: 13a

Therefore my people go into exile for lack of knowledge;

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? Today is Friday, the end of another beautiful, glorious week. As we mentioned last week, we would be spending a few minutes thanking God for all He has done for us, throughout the week. We want to try to adopt a gratitude lifestyle; learning to show gratitude and appreciation for God’s Grace and Mercy is another form of Praise. We would like to urge you to spend about 5-10 minutes just reflecting over your week and thanking God for all the wonderful things He has done- no matter how “small” you might think they are!

Today, the Holy Spirit is speaking on our level of communication with God. You see, for a relationship to grow and mature, there needs to be communication. It is important that we are in constant communication with God. In this post (lesson 20), the Holy Spirit wants us to reflect on our relationship with God (and our way of living). Are you ready for today’s lesson? Well, let us get right into it!

Every relationship thrives off trust and maturity. This can only happen through communication. Communication happens in various ways, in our relationship with God. Communication takes place in worship and praise, prayer, word study, open conversations, lifestyle, etc. Let us look at our earthly relationships. For any relationship, it is advised that communication is the key. Well, if you and the other person in the relationship do not communicate there is no point. Communication helps you to learn about each other, understand each other’s character and behaviour, and many other things. This is the same dynamic for our relationship with God. As you spend quality time with Him, you know Him more. You know Him better, His likes and dislikes, His values and principles, etc.

Imagine you are in a relationship with no communication. You or your partner do not know anything about the other person’s life or lifestyle. What happens? There will be constant arguments. There could also be a show of very unpleasant character traits/ fruits such as anger, etc. all because you both do not communicate with each other. In all honesty, the relationship is “dead.” There is most likely, no future in this relationship. This is the same for our relationship with God- our verse for the day tells us.

When we don’t communicate with God- not spending quality time in His presence to be transformed- we are not renewed by the Spirit. When there is no transformation, we continue to live our sinful lives. The first part of Isaiah 5:13 says, “Therefore my people go into exile for lack of knowledge…” Yes! As you live your life without communicating with God, you have made the decision to live without God. The Holy Spirit cannot help to transform your life. You will be living in darkness. The consequence of living in darkness is death. That is what the Holy Spirit wants to draw our attention to today!

Take a few minutes to reflect on your life! How do you communicate with God? How often do you communicate with God? This is very important! Do you think your lifestyle pleases God? Are you living a Christ-like lifestyle? These questions are so important today! Why? Well, there are a lot of luke-warm Christians. There are so many people that are trying to pass worldly things as Christian. There are so many Christians that want to look cool and are indulging in so many things. We are not perfect as humans but in Christ, He gives us the ability to become like Him. It is not easy. Now, more than ever, we need Christians to arise and be bold for Christ. The world is openly supporting the enemy’s agenda now more than ever- in music, film, clothing, etc. The only way is to be in constant communication, so that the Holy Spirit reveals the Truth to you. You have the knowledge of what is right and wrong (by God’s standards and not man). Without that knowledge, you will be living a life of sin. As we go into the weekend, lets continue to pray for God’s Mercy and Grace! It is well!

Thank you, God, for victory!

Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!

If this is your first-time hearing about Christ, or you have made the decision to make Him the center of your life, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity and truth.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son, and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. You get to enjoy the freedom, salvation, and eternal life! Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are,

1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word, day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
