Today's lesson is on something God revealed to me about a month ago. I thought it best to share it with you today; to inspire you and show you a new dimension in our relationship with God. Here it goes...
Scripture Reading: Ruth 1
Memory Verse for the day: Ruth 1:16-17
But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you will go, and where you stay I stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me."
Today's lesson:
Today, we are continuing with the Ruth series. We are still focusing on Ruth chapter 1, and this time our focus is on clinging to God. Before selecting this topic, my mind contemplated between two titles- Hold on to God and Cling on to God. But my Spirit lead me to choose Cling on to God, because that is what we are supposed to do.
Can you remember your favorite toy or gadget you had when you were little? Or that first relationship you were in with the opposite gender? Can you remember the excitement and the joy you had? Do you remember how you couldn’t stop obsessing over it? Or how you wanted to take that toy/ gadget/ person everywhere you went? Yes, that’s how we are supposed to treat God. We are to cling on to Him.
Clinging on to God means that you are always willing to follow Him no matter what. It means you will carry Him in your heart wherever you go. It means you are always excited to be in His presence, no matter the circumstance we are facing. We would not stop talking about Him to others. So I am here today to deliver this message to you- Cling on to God with all your might and strength. You would be amazed about how God will also cling on to you and bless you abundantly.
Looking at the scripture in focus today, we see how Ruth was clinging unto her mother-in-law, Naomi. Even when Naomi begged her to go back to her home town, Ruth didn’t budge. She went on to even hold on to Naomi. This illustration was what God drew my attention to. He used it to show me how we (Christians) are Ruth and God is Naomi. We are to cling on to Him at all times no matter the situation.
I am here to remind you that clinging on to God would lead you to know how to hold on to God. This is because most of the time Holding on to God is situational, but clinging onto God is timeless. Clinging on to God is like a burning fire. When you continue to cling on to God he blesses you and your fire grows bigger, brighter and has more flames. When you hold on to God, it is like the same fire, but this time after God has blessed us once or twice, we no longer hold on to Him. Then our fire burns out and the enemy can easily attack us again.
Today I want to encourage each and every one of you to cling on to God and you will never regret it. It a difficult and possible journey that first takes place in your heart.
I urge you to pray and ask God to soften and open your heart. Ask Him to help you and teach you to know Him better and ask Him to help you and give you His Grace and Mercy to know Him for yourself. Spend the rest of your quiet time or prayer time to sing praises onto God and lastly, thank Him for this wonderful message you have received and many more to come.
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you.
