For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are his pleasant planting
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? It’s the end of another wonderful week, by God’s Grace! Like I mentioned on Monday, at the beginning of every week and the end of the week, we would be giving thanks to God. On Monday, we thanked God for what He was about to do! Today, we will be thanking God for what He has done in our lives this past week! God has been faithful! It’s time to show gratitude- it’s the least form of worship we can offer to Him. He has done so many things for us- do not only focus on the major things/ activities/ circumstances! Be grateful for the things we take for granted- ability to walk, talk, brush our teeth, smell, taste, the list goes on and on! Just take a few minutes to complete this gratitude exercise and you will be blessed! Hallelujah!
Today, we continue our latest blog series- Isaiah’s Truths- with lesson 18. In today’s post, the Holy Spirit would be reminding us of our identity as children of God! Yes! If anyone were to ask you explain who you are as a Christian, what would you say? It is ok if you are not completely sure. Today, the Holy Spirit is going to help us answer this question. Are you ready? Let’s get right into it!
Scientifically, DNA proves a person’s identity. When you watch crime scene thrillers like CSI, we see that a person’s DNA is used to track his/ her information and activities. DNA is also used to identify the name of a Jane/ John Doe. Everyone has DNA. Your DNA is made up of traits from your mother, father and unique traits. Therefore, people can trace their background and lineage with their DNA, because each person carries a part of their parents in their DNA.
Just like the DNA that rans through us, we have a spiritual DNA. Our spiritual DNA is made up of primarily, traits from Christ (that is why Christ is our standard- we must aim to live Christ-like lives) and our unique traits. You may ask, “what are our spiritual unique traits?” These are the combination of giftings, and abilities God has stored inside of you! That is why, there are no two Christians are the same spiritually! We have varying giftings, abilities, that God has given us to ensure we fulfil our purpose in Christ! However, today, we are not focusing on this aspect! We are focusing on the first part!
As a child of God, you must know that you are chosen/ handpicked by God (…house of Israel…). You are special to God. God takes ownership over you and gives you a purpose in Him. Yes! Just like our earthly DNA, the traits from our parents show ownership. That is why it is possible to trace your family’s background/ lineage. Spiritually, you can trace your background to God. You are a part of the most valuable family in all creation, in all the heavens and the earth. Many people have lost because they do not have a family. They feel lost and empty. There is no father to take ownership of their heart. As a child of God, you have a loving Father who brings you peace, love and hope. A God who takes ownership of your heart and resides in your heart.
Secondly, as a child of God, you must know that you are made up of nothing but the best. You have access to nothing short of excellence (…his pleasant planting…). You see, as children of God, he has given the best of everything. God has blessed immensely, more than we can imagine of think. You see, God took His time to create you and He has given you all the tools that you need to grow and continue to serve Him. With the traits we receive from our parents, it contributes to our physical appearance. That is why, we can say you look like your mum or dad or even your grandparents. As God’s children, we look like Him spiritually. We carry all the traits of God. In the spirit, we can be identified as God’s children. To top it all off, God has given us all the tools and resources we need, to continue to shine like Him, spiritually. We have been moulded to be like the best of the best- a token of God’s workmanship. WOW!
Today, as you walk around, know your worth as a child of God. Not only do you belong to and are a child to the best, most loving Father in the universe, you look like Him. Your identity as a child of God exudes power, beauty, strength, etc. Walk with confidence, knowing your worth. The enemy has no chance to steal, kill and destroy- only if you allow him to do so. Arise, O child of God! Know your worth and arise! The world (physical and spiritual) is waiting for the manifestation of the kingdom of God (Romans 8:19)!
God richly bless you! Thank you, God, for victory!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
If this is your first-time hearing about Christ, or you have made the decision to make Him the center of your life, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity and truth.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son, and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. You get to enjoy the freedom, salvation, and eternal life! Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are,
1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word, day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
