Bible Reading: Isaiah 7 (ESV)
Memory verse: Isaiah 7: 7 & 9b
“It shall not stand, and it shall not come to pass…
…If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.”

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! What are your expectations for the week? It is the last week of October! God has good! He has guided and protected us for 10 months. There are 2 months left in the year 2025! How would you describe the year? From January till now, God has been Faithful- His Love, provision, Glory, etc. have been evident throughout the year. Are you still waiting on God to fulfil His Word? Well, do not worry! God’s Word never returns to Him empty or void! Continue to hang on to His Word and petition Him. There is more than enough time for God to show forth who He is! Hallelujah!
Well, we are back with another lesson of the Isaiah’s Truths series! Have you read lessons 30 and 31? Hope you learnt a thing or two from both pieces. In this piece, we are exploring God’s response to the people of Judah. Are you ready for this piece? Let us get right into it…
God’s response to His people continues with the statement- It shall not stand, and it shall not come to pass. This is an interesting statement. The use of language conveys a lot of meaning. The use of the phrase, “shall not”, strongly communicates prohibition. Quick research about the phrase revealed that it is normally used in formal or legal contexts to state a rule or requirement. This shows that God’s response was a legal communication with the enemy, enforcing the legal rights of His Children. This shows the intentionality of God- through His response of support and encouragement, He is enforcing our rights in two capacities- as a Father and a Judge. This reveals the power of the victory we have; over the enemy and the legal power we hold over the enemy. O House of David, why do you watch as the enemy steals your things? O House of David, what prevents you from exercising your power? O House of David, do not be deceived by this cunning liar!
This phrase, ‘shall not’, reveals the intensity and severity of spiritual legalities. We enjoy the wide expanse of God’s Love that we take His Grace for granted. Often, we approach spiritual things lazily; knowing that God’s Mercy speaks on our behalf (similar to the situation we have been exploring). The Bible is showing us the power of our speech. God spoke the legality and it was final! What prevents us from standing in the power and authority we have been given! O House of David, have you forgotten who you are? O House of David, have you forgotten the enemy you are up against? O House of David, why are you taking your position for granted? Arise, O House of David! Speak those words of truth with confidence! You have been given the authority to trample over snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means harm you! Take your place, O House of David. It is not time to be afraid- ARISE!!
The first ‘shall not’ phrase is followed by the word ‘stand’. The choice of words used in this verse, exposed an interesting method/ strategy to victory. In a bid to understand the legal weight of the phrase, a quick search was conducted to understand the meaning of the word, ‘stand’. If a decision, law or offer stands, it still exists and has not been changed or cancelled. Therefore, the first statement reveals an important step- to cancel or change the decision. Essentially, this powerful short phrase tells us that no matter the charge brought against us before the courts, it has been cancelled. God is telling us that the laws that the enemy is trying to use against us, are not enforceable. Simply, there is no case that can be built against you. Therefore…
It shall not come to pass! As the enemy has no legal power, all his plans will not happen. The plans of the enemy are nullified. This represents total and complete victory- not only is the plan/ scheme cancelled spiritually/ legally, but physically as well. O House of David, walk in the confidence of your complete victory! O House of David, are you going to allow your victory to be taken away? O House of David, do not wallow in the comfort of your flesh- that will lead to your destruction! O House of David, Arise now!!
The last statement- If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all- reveals the key to maintaining the victory. The key is FAITH. God is telling His people that all they need is Faith. What is Faith? Knowing that God is the Only One with the power and authority to overcome. That power and authority He has given to us, to overcome the enemy. O House of David, what are you waiting for? O House of David, God has shown us how to enforce and maintain our complete victory. What hinders you from receiving that complete victory? O House of David, why are you distracted? Fix your gaze on God! O House of David, the Lord is speaking! O House of David, your Father is speaking! Are you listening? Are you ready to arise! So House of David, ARISE!!
Watch out for the next blog piece! We will continue explore God’s response to King Ahaz.
If this is your first-time hearing about Christ, or you have made the decision to make Him the center of your life, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity and truth.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son, and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me of my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. You get to enjoy the freedom, salvation, and eternal life! Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is rejoicing on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are,
1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word, day, and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
