Bible Reading: Ruth 4
Memory Verse: Ruth 4:11&12
Then the elders and all the people at the gate said, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachael and Leah, who together built up the family of Israel. May you have standing in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem. Through the offspring the Lord gives you by this young woman, may your family be like Perez, whom Tamar bore Judah.”
Good morning everyone! You might be wondering why today’s message came very early. Well, I am trying to find a new rhythm for Sammie’s Daily Dose. I want to set a time by which Sammie’s Daily Dose is posted. I received feedback saying that it will be best that way. I want to try this early morning so that by the time everyone wakes up, Sammie’s Daily Dose is ready for consumption.
Today’s message is the 18thepisode of the Ruth Series. It is the last but one episode in this series. I am excited. We are close to ending our first part of this journey with Christ. Can you believe it has been a month of Sammie’s Daily Dose? Wow! Time flies so quickly. I hope each and every single episode has been a blessing, I am trusting that at least one of the episode spoke to you directly or even all!
Today we are going to touch on the type of people we must have around us as children of God. Do you know that there are people around you who just don’t like you? Sometimes you have not done anything wrong but they just don’t like you. Have you ever heard of stories where there are two friends and one is very devious and betrays the other? Or have you heard stories where it is known that one friend does not like another? Well, there are several stories like that. These sort of people never speak good things about their friends. Words have a lot of power. These negative words are spoken into someone’s life and affects the person. That is why when we start making friends, our parents are very cautious about the friends we make. They always tell us to choose our friends wisely.
The friends or close relations you have can make or break you; either with their words or action. I believe that the consequences are worse when you are broken by words. It can take several years to unchanged some of these effects. A lot of people underestimate the power of their tongue, they anything and everything to come out of their mouth. This is very bad.
When it comes to choosing friends, you need God to show you who to call the friend. This is because looks are deceptive. Someone might look sweet and nice but is the meanest person. Each day, we must pray to God to give us discernment to choose our friends wisely. As Christians, we must have our closest friends to be Christians. This is important because this close person is someone you would be sharing a lot with. You need someone who walks with God that can back you up in prayers. Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that you can’t have a muslim friend. I have Muslim friends; what I am saying is that the people closest to you shouldn’t be. This is because the people around you determine a lot about you both physically and spiritually.
For people who have converted into Christianity from other religions, it might be difficult for you because your whole family is practicing another religion. A very good friend of mine in such a situation. Don’t be discouraged. Pray to God to show you people around you that can support you. It might be difficult because such a person would draw a lot of attention. But you will need God’s help to sift the true helpers and supporters from the flock.
When we look at the last chapter of the book of Ruth, we see that the elders of the town declared some things to Boaz when he bought all of Naomi’s husband’s properties (and was about to marry Ruth). These are the elders that everyone calls on for advice. These elders are the people that the people from Bethlehem told all their problems and worries. In this case, the people of Bethlehem were surrounded by good people. In the case of Boaz, these elders spoke into his marriage with Ruth and also for their future offspring(s). these positive words were translated into the life of Boaz and his family.
Again in the same Bible Reading, there is another example. When Obed was born, the women around blessed him in front of/ to Naomi. These positive words translated into Obed’s life. Imagine having everyone around you speaking positive things in your life? Would that not be awesome?
You can only experience such sort of close relationships and positive comments if you have God’s help. To be able to do this you need Christ in your life. It is one of the privileges as God’s child. He gives you wisdom and you will be able to discern many things including the people around you. The important question is, “Do you have Christ living in you?” if the answer is no and you want to enjoy such privileges; I urge you to repeat this simple prayer with all your heart.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He came to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fil me and cleanse me sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.
Now that you have said this prayer, you are a child of God. Welcome to God’s family. You can now begin to receive all those privileges that God’s children enjoy. Heaven is jubilating because there is a new member of God’s family, you! I will urge you to get a Bible (in a version you understand and appreciate) and start meditating on God’s Word. It is the key to everything in this world. It is also a key to understanding God better. Hallelujah! I will also urge you to find a Bible- believing church to attend to fellowship. Amen!
If you are already a child of God, ask Him to give you wisdom and understanding. Ask God to guide your footsteps so that your foot shall not tread in bad places. Ask Him to help to sift out all the people around you and put His people close to you. Amen.
Today’s prayer: Dear God,
Thank you for taking me through the night and giving me life this morning. I want to say thank you Lord, for revealing this message to you. I commit my day into your care Oh Lord. Help me to be a blessing to everyone I encounter today. Use me Oh God. Thank you for sending your son to die for my sins. I lift your name high up Oh God, for you are Great and your love endures forever.
Amen.
I hope today’s message has been a blessing to you. God is telling us this because He wants to protect His children from harm’s way. He wants to equip you and make you great; He is teaching us what to do. So the time is now. You have to ask yourself, “Do I have any of God’s people around me?”
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you.
