The Ruth Series: Episode 19- The Importance of the Feet.

Bible Reading: Ruth 4

Memory Verse: Ruth 4:7

(Now in the earlier times in Israel, for the redemption and transfer of property to become final, one party took off his sandal and gave it to the other. This was the method of legalizing transactions in Israel).

Good morning everyone! Let’s thank God for life this morning. I hope you had a good night’s rest. I am sure everyone is glad that today is Friday and the weekend drawing near. I am excited about that too. The weekend is a time to relax and spend time with family and friends.

This episode is the 19th and final episode of The Ruth Series. All too soon, the Ruth Series has come to an end. I am trusting that at least one of the episodes ministered to you and bless you. Let me know your opinions on The Ruth Series. What was your favourite episode? What was your favourite memory verse? Let’s thank the Lord for this awesome journey you and I took in the book of Ruth.

In today’s episode, we would be looking at the feet. Yes, you read right! Your feet! The feet is one of the most important parts of the human body. It is most at times the most ignored part. The number one part of the body that most people don’t take care of are the feet. Yup! The feet! The feet are very important because it helps us fulfill one of the core mandates as Christians. That is to go out and be fishers of men. We are supposed to go out and spread the Gospel to any and all who would listen. Tell me, how can we perform this if our feet are not strong and well taken care of?

That is why it is important to protect our feet. That is why we wear shoes, sandals, etc., to protect our feet from harm’s way. Why do you think that is so? Because God knew how important our feet are. Anyways, I am not here to talk about the protection of the feet. I am here to encourage you to do God’s work. So I ask, take a good look at your feet? Have they walked to go and preach the Gospel? Or have they not? God has given us the tools we need to go and make disciples but we are not using them. Every day we make excuses. Meanwhile our feet are always ready to move. Why not move to your neighbor and tell him/her about Christ. The Holy Spirit would give you what to say.

In the passage, we saw that for the purchasing of Naomi’s husband’s property to be final, the guardian- redeemer removed one sandal and gave it to Boaz. Take a minute to soak it in. Why do you think in ancient Israel they didn’t use handshakes to legalize matters? This is because people walk around their property. That’s how they mark their territory. So someone removing their sandals means that they are giving the buyer the rights to the thing that is being exchange. In this case land. The guardian- redeemer walked on the land with those sandals. Now that he has given his sandal to Boaz, he is relieving himself of any authority or power over the land. The guardian- redeemer is exposing his feet. This shows that he has no relationship with the land and is free of all obligations concerning it.

Do you see? The feet that we all, most of the time, take for granted is very useful and has a very big job to do. God is an amazing God. He does not leave us ill-equipped. He has carefully thought through everything concerning us. He has given us everything we need to be victorious over the enemy. This love is very unfathomable. No one loves his children more than our Father in heaven loves His children.

Do you want to enjoy this kind of love? All you need to do is repent and accept Jesus Christ into your heart. Are you ready for this bold step? If yes, repeat this prayer with all your heart:

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He came to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fil me and cleanse me sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.

If you said this prayer, you are now a child of God. Welcome to God’s family. Heaven is rejoicing by this. God has started changing all the old things about you and He is making you new. You can now experience the full lengths to God’s love. I would encourage you to find a Bible- believing church to attend to fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually. I would recommend that you get yourself a Bible (in a version that you understand) and meditate on it. It has the answers to everything you need in this world. Amen.
