The Genesis Story: Part 5- Are you a helper?

Bible Reading: Genesis 2 Memory Verse: Genesis 2:18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Good morning everyone! Sorry about yesterday’s late post. I am trying to get back on track. There are some issues that are being resolved so that Sammie’s Daily Dose would return to its routine. I hope you are having a wonderful day so far. I hope it is going great. Mine is. I have life. I thank God and lift Him up for life. Today’s message is Part 5 of The Genesis Story. We are looking at being or becoming a helper. Nowadays, there are a lot of people who think they can breeze through life alone. This is not possible. We need people one way or another in this world. To get a promotion at work, you need people. In delivering a child, you need people. In studying, you need people. In almost every aspect of your life you need people. But don’t get me wrong, that does not mean we have to trust everyone. That is quite the contrary. Though we need people, some people are very unsatisfied and angry at the world. Such people would never like to see you become successful. Dealing with people can be very difficult. We want to feel appreciated and love once in a while. At times, when we do stuff for people, a part of us hopes that one day that person would return the favour. Most at times, this does not happen. That does not mean that you must be angry and go solo in life. It is to help you learn a lesson. That lesson is that you must not hope or trust in man but in God. Do you know why? God never disappoints. There are also some people who are just a blessing to your lives. At times, their love and help is unfathomable. They are God sent. Yes, there are few of these people like this left in the world. Don’t lose hope. Such people, God brings them at specific moments in your life to help you go through a situation. Most of the time, when that situation is gone or you have taught something. God directs this person to someone else. In this moment, do not feel discouraged, God was raising you up so that you can be an angel to someone. There are also many cases of such people sticking around forever. People relationship can be very tricky. You need the wisdom of God to be able to identify if someone is a helper. It is also very wrong to think that you are a people master. You can build a relationship with everyone you meet. It is not every you see that have your best interests at heart. This sort of living causes many people’s downfall. So choose the people around you very carefully. So far we have been looking at other people helping us. Let’s take a moment to look at the reverse. You helping someone. It is important to help someone. There is some encouragement you can give to someone that would change their lives forever. This person does not necessarily have to be your friend. It could be your neighbor or your co-worker. Make sure that each day, someone feels loved. This is one of the ways you can live a Godly life. By being kind to someone, smiling at someone can make a difference. It is important to be with people. Why do you think God created marriage then? Marriage is where two people come together as one. They live together, share everything together and raise up children together. When we look at the story of Genesis 2, we see that God created woman to help Adam. Yup! The first thing this signifies is marriage. A man would leave his father and mother’s house and join the woman and the two shall be one (Genesis 2:24). The woman’s role in the marriage is to be a helper. Please women, you roll is not to be the head of the house. Submit to your husbands. Your role is to be a helper. Do not worry that your word does not hold because it actually does. Nothing would be passed in your household without you knowing. Please leave your husbands to make the decisions, do not bully them into doing what you want them to do or what you think is right. The second thing it signifies is friendship. We are encouraged to have friends who would help us. It is rare to find such friends. But they are out there. You just have to sift all your friends and find that one. He or she is usually among your pull of friends but if you do not pay attention you might not notice them. After all, how many friends does one person need? To be able to have the right people to help and you help others, you must have Christ in your hearts. So the question you have to ask yourself is, “Do I have Christ in my heart?” If your answer is no please repeat this prayer. Dear Lord, I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He came to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fil me and cleanse me sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen. If you said this prayer, congratulations! You are now part of God’s family. Heaven is jubilating by your welcome. Hallelujah! I would encourage you to get yourself a Bible- in a version that you understand. Read it constantly. By doing this, you would be able to know and understand God better; as well as grow spiritually. I will encourage you to find a Bible- believing church to attend, so that you can fellowship with other Christians. To everyone else who already has Christ in their lives, pray and ask God to help you to choose the right people to be around you. Ask Him to help you to be a blessing to others. Amen. When you help others, you will be blessed. Do not be a person who enjoys helping but don’t like to be helped. This is also bad. Be blessed and also allow others to be blessed by helping you out. So I leave you with these questions, “Are you helping others?” and “Are you receiving help?” - Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you. Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I pray that you protect me and my family this day. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. This is the end of the fifth part of the Genesis Story. How did you find it? Please give us feedback on how this message (and previous messages) have spoken to you. Don’t forget to subscribe to get notifications once we post. Always remember to show love to everyone, as this is one of the most important commandments God left for us – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In every situation, before you take a decision, remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). Shalom.
