Bible Reading: Genesis 3
Memory Verse: Genesis 3: 22
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
Hello everyone! Good evening! I hope you are having a wonderful day. Today is the Part nine of The Genesis Story. I hope you have been enjoying the journey so far. God bless all of you who read these messages daily and are blessed by them. Today we would be looking at our God, the God of second chances. Yup! God is so merciful and kind. He gives his children second chances.
Have you ever done something to someone and you beg for a second chance? Have you done something wrong to someone and the shout as you, “I am giving you another chance. You better not mess it up.” All of us in one way or another want a second chance. We plead for second chances when we have done something wrong but the person we hurt is really close to us. For example, your mum gave you her car to drive around and you smash the car. You go home crying and begging for forgiveness. You plead with your mother to grant you a second chance. You are asking for a second chance for one of these two reasons. Firstly, the car is very nice and your friends will cheer you on when they see you driving it. Or secondly, you want your mum to trust you with her things. Looking at either of these two reasons, they are reasons that we like and are in our best interest so we would beg for second chances.
Imagine (using the same scenario), you mum gives you her car but the car is a very old car. You smash it. You will not go back begging for a second chance. I know wouldn’t. I would rather feel as though I did her a favour and it is time to change the car. The same thing happens in our relationship with God. When we do something wrong against Him, he gives us second chances because He loves us so much. He knew the future without Him is a very unpleasant one. He does not like to see us suffer so He would give us (His children) second chances. Is that not every kind and loving of our Father?
You might argue that our earthly parents would do same for us? Yes they would. But with them, it is not for every circumstance. There are some incidents that happen that they may decide not to give you a second chance at. With God, no matter the circumstance; if you are genuinely sorry He would forgive you and give you a fresh start. He would clear off all the past. He will not remember the past. With our earthly parents this is sometimes not possible. Even though they say they have given us second chances, they still bring up all our wrong doings. This is not the save with God, our heavenly Father. He forgets the past and focuses on the future and the now. Is that not amazing?
In Genesis chapter 3, we read about how Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden. After God found out about this He cursed man and the serpent and drove them away from the garden. By the actions of Adam and Eve, sin came into the world. So man could not enjoy blessings such as eternal life and others. God loved us so much that He sent His Only Son to come on the cross, to die for us, so that we may have everlasting life. Is that not awesome? That’s just mind- blowing. Ask yourself, if it were you, would you have been able to do same? There are so many people I know that when someone offends them, they would never speak to the person again. Imagine having to send your only son to die for that person? Would you be able to do it? Hmmm..
Is God not a wonderful God? Yes, He is. If you are not a child of God and you read this message, and you want to be a child of this awesome God; please repeat this short prayer.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.
If you said this prayer, congratulations! You are now part of God’s family. Heaven is jubilating by your welcome. Hallelujah! You have been given new life. Hallelujah! Christ has taken away all your sin. He has turned a blind eye to it. Now, you must live a righteous life. To do so, I would encourage you to get yourself a Bible- in a version that you understand. Read it constantly. By doing this, you would be able to know and understand God better; as well as grow Spiritually. I will encourage you to find a Bible- believing church to attend, so that you can fellowship with other Christians.
To us Christians, renew your faith in Christ. This time, do not follow your old ways. When you do this you have made the decision to follow Christ and follow him whole-heartedly. Don’t be like a lot of Christians who abuse God’s forgiveness and keep on doing the wrong things because God would forgive them. If you do make the decision to renew your faith after this message, please let be genuine. God bless you.
Have a wonderful evening and let God inspire you!
Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I pray that you protect me and my family this night. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
