The Genesis Story: Part 27- Are there LAGS?!

Bible Reading: Genesis 7

Memory Verse: Genesis 7: 10

And it came to pass after the seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I hope you are all doing great. God has given us life and life He has given to us more abundantly. Today, do not let the devil steal your joy. It Is time to overcome this fear and stop allowing the enemy to destroy you. You have the power to win the battle against the enemy. You have allowed him to use you and ridicule you for a long time. It has to end now. You must rise and snatch your happiness from the enemy. Exclaim in a loud voice, “Devil, enough is enough! You no longer have control of my happiness. I am taking back what is mine. You have been here too long!” Hallelujah! Once you say these words, mean it, change and act upon it. It is a battle of the mind. I know and I am, confident that you can do it.

Today’s message is Part 27 of The Genesis Story. Today we are going to talk a bit more about the time period of God’s Word to be fulfilled. A lot of people always wonder why there is a lag between the time god says His Word and the time period that it would come to pass. Once again, we would be looking at Genesis 7 with a focus on verse 10.

The first thing I did was to look for the definition of the word “lag.” In the dictionary, lag means to fail to keep up with another or other in movement or development. This definition was very interesting one. Another definition is the period of time between one event and another. Out of the two, the first definition was the one that was very intriguing for me.

Though the definitions are somewhat different, they apply to the circumstance we would talk about. Let take the first definition. The definition says the failure to keep another in development. God is not a failure. His Words are ye and amen. God has never lied. And He is not going to begin now. He is the most truthful being that you know. So the first part of the definition is not a strong basis. The next key thing in that definition was development. Yes, the works we do for God are for our development. Once we avail ourselves to Christ, He gives us an increase. This is development. You are no longer at the same level as before. This could be spiritual or physical. However, God has never failed to fulfill His Word, so therefore there is no basis to say that there’s no development. So with this definition can you say that there’s a lag between God’s Word and its execution?

Let’s look at the second definition. It says the period of time between one event and another. When God promises to do something in our lives, most at times, does not give you the time frame in which He is going to fulfill what He said. But then due to our sinful, impatient nature, we want to see the results immediately we are told. This is not the case. There is a reason why God decides to tell us/ reveal to us what He is about to do for us. Using this basis, there is no lag because God does not put a timeline to when He about to do something.

Looking at the second definition again, we could also say that there is some form of lag happening. One could say that the first event is when God tells us of what He is about to do. The next event is when it is fulfilled. Thus we can say there’s a lag because the time between these two events is a lag. This reasoning is used as an argument by many to support the statement that there is a lag in the delivery of God’s promise.

In Genesis 7, we see that the floods started 7 days after the ark door was closed shut. Is it that God is late? Is there a lag? The mention of the number of days shows a bit of human influences in the writings of the Bible. This statement puts a lot of attention on the phrase “And it came to pass after the seven days…” It is not an obvious variable of the statement but very subtle.

God does not tell us the exact time He is going to deliver on His promise. He does it when the time is right. God is always on time. He is not early or late, but right on time. Knowing this, do you think that there is a lag? Nope there is no lag. God is on time. He tells us beforehand so that we prepare for what is coming ahead. There is no lag.!
