The Genesis Story: Part 31- "Be Fruitful and Multiply" Is this a Blessing or an Instructio

Bible Reading: Genesis 9

Memory Verse: Genesis 9: 1

And God blessed Noah and his sons and said unto them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.”

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? How was your evening? Are you prepared to have a lovely and blessed day? I am! I hope you are too! This week, I urge you to put a smile on at least one person face a week. Help that child cross the road. Donate some old clothes to the orphanage. Give your free resources to people wo need it the most and impact someone’s life positively. In Luke 6: 38, the Bible says “Give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bossom. For with the same measure the ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” So give whole- heartedly and you shall receive the same kind of blessing when you least expected. Giving is not restricted to only tangible things but also to intangible things. God bless!

Today, is Part thirty- one of the Genesis Story. I am so excited about this series. Though it is a very long series (as Genesis has 42 chapters), God is blessing us with powerful and inspirational messages each day. It is just a very beautiful thing to know Him more. Kindly note that the 100thepisode on Sammie’s Daily Dose is soon approaching. Sammie’s Daily Dose will be running the Testimony Series. Please leave your testimonies, comments and words of encouragement. Kindly send me a message (attaching your email address) of how Sammie’s Daily Dose has impacted you or been a blessing to you! You can decide to be anonymous or disclose your name to the world. God bless!

Today, we going to look at the Genesis chapter 9 verse 1. There is a common thinking that the words “Be fruitful and multiply” are an instruction. Let’s tur our Bibles to Genesis 1 verse 28. This is the first time that these words were written in the Bible. The verse says, “And God blessed them, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea…”

When I read these two verses, I realized that God’s words indeed never change. What He says are ye and amen. Looking at both verses, they are in the exact same words and the same pattern. The first thing that both verses tell us is that “And God blessed them…” We see that first of all before the famous quotation, God blessed them. In this case, God was saying that He has blessed them (man) by giving us the ability to be fruitful and multiply. So the fact that you can be fruitful is a blessing God has bestowed on to you. It is a blessing that God has given to all His children. We (His children) must pick up these words and claim it as our own, this is how we are assured pf this blessing. Why must we do this, you might ask? Well, this blessing was released in the Spiritual world and it is to manifest in the physical. However, in the Spiritual realms, the devil is contending with these promises. As a child of God, you must claim the right to your blessing back. Do not let the enemy steal is from you.

After reading this verse, I saw how important it is. God has repeated the verse in the same book. It must be a very huge blessing that the enemy is contending. Yes, in actual fact, the enemy does not want to see the earth filled with God’s people. Then, the enemy’s agenda cannot be fulfilled. So he is doing what he does best. Coming to steal, kill and destroy. I told myself that each day, I would add this memory verse to my daily affirmations. I would declare it every day. The enemy will not and shall not steal my blessing from me. In the near future, I would do a piece about the importance of affirmations. For now, I would encourage each and every single one of you to write down your affirmations. They should be memory verses that strengthen you and give you hope.

Now let us look at the second part of the verse which states that God said unto them “Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth.” This part of the verse is an instruction from God. The Bible used the words, “God said to them…” These are direct words from God. In many Bibles, it would be written in red. This is an instruction from God. Why so? This is because He has blessed us with the ability to be fruitful and multiply. When it is just a blessing, then it becomes a matter of choice. Now God is saying that it is not a matter of choice, but it is something He wants all of His children to do. This removes the choice aspect of the blessing and makes it an instruction. So if you do not fulfill this promise, you will be disobeying God. Is this what you want to do?

God made this an instruction because He knew the weight that these words carry. It would be limiting the power of the enemy. God foresaw this and instructed us to do this. We serve a very loving a kind God. These are some of the things God has done and continues to do and will continue to do, that makes me awe in amazement of His love for us. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, God loves you so much that gave His Son to die on the cross for you. The question is “Do you love Him too?”

If you have read this message and you do not have Christ living you; you want to change that, kindly repeat this prayer in all sincerity.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

I want end by answering the main question a hand. “Be fruitful and multiply” is a blessing and an instruction. God bless you all! Have a lovely day and a lovely week.

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
