The Genesis Story: Part 40- God is NEVER late; He is ALWAYS ON TIME!

Bible Reading: Genesis 12

Memory Verse: Genesis 12: 4

So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? How was your day? Are you living a life that represents God? I would like you to take some time to think about it. Do you think that the way you are living your life, is showing that Christ lives in you? How do you handle situations around you? Whether in the office? Or at school? Whilst you are driving? What does your conscience say? Are you full of the Holy Spirit? What is your immediate reaction in situations that come your way? Answer all these questions truthfully! No matter what the answers to those questions are; do not worry! None of us are perfect. We are all striving hard to live a Christ- like life. We falter in certain areas of our lives. That is why the Holy Spirit is there to remind you and help you. All you need to do is acknowledge your faults and allow him in. Hallelujah!

Today, we still looking at Genesis 12. We are moving on from the “Blessings” talk to something else. We are taking a closer look at our calling from God. This topic is of interest to a lot of Christians because a lot of us spend our time thinking and searching for our calling and waiting upon God to tell us that it is time. We are going to be looking a closer look at Genesis chapter 12 verse 4 for this post.

The first thing I want to establish is that God speaks to us all the time. We have to constantly hear His voice and listen to what He has to tell us. When we do, we would identify our mission/ purpose/ assignment. When you have listened to Him, you must act on it. No matter whether you think it makes sense or not. Whether you have thought through the steps or not. You have to completely trust God and know that He will never let anything harm you! He has got you! He will provide for you. Look at the story of God taking the Israelites from Egypt into the Promise land. He fed them, protected them, gave them light and He preserved them. He will do same for you. Just trust!

In verse 4 of Genesis 12, we read, “So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him…” From this verse, we see that Abram listened and obeyed. The Bible didn’t say some, nope, the Bible tell us that Abram did everything he was instructed. I am sure there were many people who told Abram not to go and gave him a thousand and one reason not to go. Abram was strong enough to shut down all the people around and make the decision for God. Can you imagine the number of people he offended or disrespected because he wouldn’t listen to them? But he made the best decision- the decision to follow God. God is, was and will continue to be the best choice than any man. I pray that when the time comes, you drown everyone else’s voice and listen and obey only God’s. Amen!

The last part we would be focusing on is about the time in which God calls us. The latter part of verse 4 says, “…and Abram was seventy and five years when he departed out of Haran.” I just want you all to notice the age which God called Abram. He was 75 years. This is 15 years after retirement. Can you believe! I hear so many stories of people who think that it is too late to start something, or it is too late to do God’s work. Abram was called at a late age, most of these people are not even 50 years old yet. I am here just to tell you that it is never late. God is never late; He is always on time. You might be called to do something that the age that God thinks you are ready for what He has for you. You are called at the age where you have learnt all the necessary things for you to start and maintain God’s work.

I want to urge you not to look at someone else and try to be like him or her. That is a recipe for disaster. God created us all differently. He gave each and every single one of us a specific assignment/ work. What that person is doing is best for him or her. God would show you what is best for you. Your assignment would be something that suites your character, your strengths and your heart desires. Do not measure yourself by someone else’s standards. Be happy being different. They are not the standard. God is the standard. Be happy and confident in yourself.

It does not matter that the time your twin is called. Or your best friend. Or your colleague. Everybody has their own path to follow. This walk with God is not a competition or a race. It’s a relationship with you and God. Everyone’s relationship is different. Focus on your relationship with God and He will bless you accordingly. It doesn’t matter if someone is called at the age of 5 and you are called at the age of 50. Everyone will be judged individually. Do not let time by a factor that comes between you and God. He is always on time. If He gives it to you before time, you wouldn’t know how to handle it. You will not only destroy the gift He has given you, bu
