Bible Reading: Genesis 12
Memory Verse: Genesis 12:7-8
And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared to Him. And he moved from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth- el, and pitched his tent, having Beth- el on the west, and Ai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? Hope you had a wonderful night last night and having a great day so far? We give God all the glory, honor and adoration. What have you set out to do differently today? Will you respond to the rude lady in your office in a positive, light tone, instead of the harsh tone you used to respond to her daily? Would you say “Good morning” to the janitor or the security man at school or at work? Or would you just encourage people with your smile? Make a difference in someone’s life today. The things that you deem “little,” are the very things that sets up apart from the rest of the world. These are the things you will do that would show the world that Christ lives in you. Let us live a Christ-like life and be a blessing to many. Our life can be someone’s blessing. Hallelujah!
Today’s post is Part 41 of the Genesis Story and we are still exploring Genesis 12. We will be exploring a topic that talks about seeking God every step of the way. This could be every step of your walk with Christ or every step of discovering your land or even every step in working on your land. By God’s Grace, Sammie’s Daily Dose is just the beginning on many other wonderful things. Watch out and what God has in store for us all. Hallelujah!
Looking at verse 7 of Genesis 12, this when Abram first started the journey from his hometown to the land God was going to give to him. He built an altar to God. He was seeking God. This altar was one of thanksgiving and praise. Why? This is because we are told that God blessed Abram with a land for his “seed”. In other Bible versions, we are told “offspring;” because Abram listened to God, God rewarded him for his obedience. From this part of the verse, the Bible is telling us two things. First of all, the Bible is telling us that when we obey God, he is going to reward us immediately with a generational blessing. The second is that, we must seek God in the beginning of our journey.
Seeking God in the beginning is very important. Why? We seek God to give thanks for our blessings and to fuel ourselves for the up- coming journey. This is very important. There are many Christians you find that start something for God on a very high note but then they fade away when they are faced with a few challenges. This happens because they did not seek God at the beginning of their journey. Sometimes, when we have been called to do God’s work, we think that we have it all figured out! We think we can do it by ourselves. However, that Is not the case. It is not by our strength but by God’s strength.
Let us look at verse 8, from this verse we see that after Abram made his first stop to rest, he called upon God. This is telling at that when come to our first resting point in our journey we must seek God. We must thank God for all He has done so far and ask Him to help you continue the journey. Here, once again, you are refueling. You are telling God that it is not by your might but His. You are inviting Him to take charge and lead the way. This is what would carry you on in your journey (this could be your walk with God, or your walk to your promise land – like Abram).
When you spend time seeking God, there are so many things He tells us. He gives you strategies to win battles against the enemy. He gives you a clearer vision of the end. He reveals to you the ways in which you should pass to achieve everything He has instructed you to do. He encourages you to keep moving on. From all this, you get closer to God and you grow in Him spiritually.
Today, what God wants to tell you is that you should seek Him. You do not seek Him once and think that is all. You have to constantly seek Him; so that you are in line with His will. If not, there would come a time where you are away from God. You will be riding on your will and what you think is best; which is not the best.
Seeking God can be done in several ways. It can be done through praise and worship or meditating on the Word or through prayer. In all these ways, God speaks to us. In praise and worship, the lyrics of a song can contain God’s message to you. By mediating on the Word, a particular scripture will contain the message God wants to give you. Through prayer, God can talk to you directly. My brothers and sisters in Christ, seek Him.
If you are reading Sammie’s Daily Dose for the first time or you have been inspired by this message and you want to join God’s family, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity in your hearts.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
