Bible Reading: Genesis 15
Memory Verse: Genesis 15:1
After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? How was your day? God bless you all for spending some time to read today’s message. Today, we would be continuing with The Genesis Story with Part 50. In this message, we would be concentrating on Genesis chapter 15 and we would be exploring some of the words God left for us.
In the verse we are looking at, God told Abram that He (God) is our shield and our very great reward. Thus, God is telling us that no matter where we are or who we are with, He is with us all the time. God is telling us to cast away all our fears because He sees what we are going through, and He is protecting us from it.
I have come to realise that fear comes in different forms and kinds. There is the fear of danger, fear of failure, fear of animals, etc. there are so many fears we go through at one point or another. These fears usually arise when we think about doing things/ facing our problems with our own might. That is why God says that He is our shield. Regardless of what fear you have, if you invite God in; He will be a shield that casts away all the fears. He would help you to be strong and courageous enough to face your fears.
God only comes to help His children; you have to ask/ invite Him to perform this task. That is why you see a number of so- called Christians who are going through all sorts of fears, which are slowly eating up their lives. They have not been able to be victorious in the battle of fear because it is either they do not exercise the faith they preach; or they haven’t invited God into the situation because they believe in human tactics.
From the verse once again, God is telling us that His protection over our lives are a reward. Therefore, it means that to earn the protection, you must have done something. This thing is to serve and follow His plan for your life diligently. Then, He will reward us by giving us protection. It is made available to use; however, we have to call for it when we are ready to use it.
For example; when you have won a prize after the academic year; you are rewarded for your hard work. If this prize consists of two textbooks; you will only use the textbooks when you need them. This is same for the protection of God. When you need it, you call upon Him to be a shield.
This shield knows no bounds. Nothing is too big or too small. Do not think your fear is too small or too big for God. He loves us so much. Everything that is of concern to us; is of concern to Him. So, if it is the fear of passing your exam or the fear of being fired from work or any sort of fear you are going through; hand it over to God. He would handle it better than you would have imagined. Just trust Him. Hallelujah!
If this is the first time reading a message on Sammie’s Daily Dose or you have been inspired by this post to join God’s family; kindly repeat this prayer.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
