The Genesis Story: Part 52- We are Heirs!

Bible Reading: Genesis 15

Memory Verse: Genesis 15: 5

He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars- if indeed you can count them.” Then He said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing today? Hope you had a good night’s sleep? And that you are ready to have another wonderful day? Sammie’s Daily Dose is back with another message. This is Part 52 of the Genesis Story. Today we would be continuing the study from the book of Genesis, chapter 15. In this message, we would be looking at verse 5.

In verse 5 of Genesis 15, God answered Abram with an even greater gift than he could have imagined. God told Abram that he (Abram) would be a father to many. Mny blessed generations would come after him. This gift was a blessing. How do you think sucha great blessing was bestowed on to Abram?

Well, it was due to his diligence and obedience to God. God was rewarding him for his great work to the kingdom of God. From this, God is telling us that our miracle/ breakthrough will come off from the things we yearn for most that society has deemed impossible. God will turn the impossible into a possible; to Glorify His name. Hallelujah!

Going back on track to the message for the day, this verse is telling us of how we are heirs of Abram. The off springs that Abram was promised was a spiritual. When we are in Christ, Abram becomes our spiritual father; we are his spiritual children. We are heirs to his possessions. All the blessings and promises God gave him, we (born-again Christians) are entitled to it. We must sit up and claim it.

Someone might ask, “how are we heirs to his possessions?” To answer this question, I would use a scenario. Here on earth, when someone dies, they leave all their property, and riches to their children. They leave their children an inheritance. The same principle applies; we are children of Abram, so we receive our inheritance (blessings and gifts God promised Abram).

This passage is also a symbol of us (born- again Christians) being heirs/ off springs of Christ. In this context, Abram symbolically represents God and the stars represent Christians. Just like the number if stars, we (God’s children) are so many. They are not countable. They come in different colours, shapes, sizes, personalities and many others. One important thing to highlight from this Fatherly- child relationship is that God loves us unconditionally and equally. Hallelujah!

Brothers and sisters in Christ, I urge you to continue in Christ. To be able to enjoy our inheritance, we must be diligent and obedient. God would then decide to reward you. Always remember that you do not have to take this walk alone; the Holy Spirit is always available to help you and guide you. Hallelujah!

If you are reading Sammie’s Daily Dose for the first time or you feel inspired this morning to join God’s family- by accepting Christ into your heart; kindly repeat this prayer.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
