Bible Reading: Genesis 15
Memory Verse: Genesis 15: 6 & 7
Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness. He also said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of UR of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.”
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? Hope your day went well! Today, we are continuing with our study of Genesis 15. We would be looking at verse six and seven today. We would be looking at the topic: “Righteousness and Belief.”
So far in Genesis chapter 15, we see that Abram asked God for a child (well, indirectly). God responded to Abram’s request with a blessing. God blessed Abram by making him the father of many nations. Now we are looking at another dimension to the request of Abram.
The first thing God wants us to look to learn from this verse is believing. Yup! Believing! This is what makes the difference between you and anyone else in this world. When God spoke to Abram about his blessing; he believed it. It came true. Believing is like an answer to God.
Believing is the gateway to your solution. This is because God answers us based on the result or the future outcome. By believing in what He has said, you are acknowledging the outcome of your situation. If you have consented to it. Then it is done. This is why it is very important to believe.
The next thing God wants us to look at is Righteousness. From the verse, we are told that God credited the belief to him as righteousness. This is telling us that if we believe in God’s word, He sees it as righteousness. God sees it as you are doing right by him. Not only that you are credited. As you keep obeying God and believing in Him; you are being credited. God will/ can use this as incentive to do what you ask Him to do for you.
Finally, with all this made clear, God reminds us of the authority and power He has. In verse 7, God is reminding us of who He is and the instruction He gave us. This is to remind us of how far we have come in the journey, and also to remind us that He never fails. He has not forgotten us. He will achieve everything He says He would because He can do it. He has already done it. Hallelujah!
If you are reading Sammie’s Daily Dose for the first time or you feel inspired this evening to join God’s family- by accepting Christ into your heart; kindly repeat this prayer.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
