Hello ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? Hope you have been enjoying 2019 so far? I have. Today, we are going to look at the topic, “Being A Christian in 2019!” I hear a lot of people talking about living their life as a Christian and how difficult it is. The most important question people ask me is, “The Bible says this, am I to follow the Bible exactly?” we would be looking at this. This piece is the first part of the “Being A Christian in 2019” mini-series. We would be looking at been equipped with the fundamentals- Faith and The Word. Let’s get straight into it.
I would like to begin with the Bible verse, Joshua 1:8 (NIV). Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. From this verse, we see that it very important not only to read the Bible but meditate on it all the time. The question is how to achieve this? Nowadays, everyone is focused on work, money, life, etc.; they do not have as much time to meditate on the Word. As a 2019 man or woman, how can you find the keys to prosperity and success (which you are hustling tirelessly for)?
The first thing we each have to do is build up on our Faith and Belief in Christ. We are used to saying, “God will do it!”; but we do not mean it. The key to being able to have Faith that Christ came to die for our sins and has made us a new creation. Many men and women have grown up in church, heard the Bible stories; they have not committed their lives to God. If you are one such person at the end of this message, there would be an alter call. I urge you to take the first step.
Other people have “weak” Faith because they feel like they have been disappointed by God or they didn’t deserve a certain event/circumstance that they went through. These Christians go to church every Sunday- some participate in church activities- however they do so either out of compulsion or routinely. If you are such a person reading this, I would like you to know that whatever you went through was not for your harm but it was to strengthen you. God does not want to see you in pain or hurt. He loves you so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross for you. Take a few minutes off your busy schedule. Spend time talking to God and also reflecting. Go back to the time you felt hurt or disappointed by God. Could the circumstances have been better? Would you be where you are now if things had not happened that way? Present these answers to God and have a frank conversation with Him. He is waiting with arms open wide to embrace you and comfort you. I pray that the Holy Spirit comforts you and soothes your heart. From this journey, I would encourage you to give your life to Christ once more. You would be filled with a burning desire to learn and grow closer to God.
The last group of Christians with “weak” Faith are those who have lost their priorities. These are the people who have not put God at the top of their list. He is second, third, fourth, fifth or even tenth. If this is you, I would like you to make a new list. God has to be first in everything. He is the maker of the heaven and the earth. He can provide more than you can think or imagine.
With the right Faith, not only would you willingly study the Word; you will meditate on it. The Word is one of the fundamental tools you need as a Christian. The Word of God acts as so many things: a guide, a comforter, a helper, a weapon and many other things. It is essential that as a 2019 Christian, you spend time with the Word. The question is how to make time?
To be able to do that, I believe you must be true to yourselves and your likes. If you know you are someone who likes going out with friends, get a friend or two, settle on a place to meet twice or thrice a week just to read the Word, dissect it and study it. This is an example of making the effort to Being A Christian in 2019. Have Bible buddies, they check up on you to guide and help you meditate on the Word. It is always best to start small then slowly make more time dedicated to solely meditating on The Word…
Watch out for the continuation of this series.
To end this piece, I would like anyone who would like to accept Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour; to kindly repeat this short prayer in all sincerity.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
