Is God A Person?

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? Hope you are great. How is 2019 treating you so far? Excited? Today, we are going to look at an interesting topic: Is God A Person? Hmm. Is that not a very intriguing theme? Well, let us get right into it.

On Sunday at church, the preacher spoke on the theme, “Who is the Holy Spirit?” Through that message, I learnt that the Holy Spirit is a PERSON. He is a person because he has personality. The Holy Spirit can think or has knowledge. The Holy Spirit has a will; lastly, the Holy Spirit has emotions.

As I sat at church, the Holy Spirit gave me this message, “Is God A person?” He reminded me of the PERSONALITY OF GOD. Careful (and unguided) study might lead to the conclusion that God is a person.

One attribute of God is that He is a Person and also like a person. Hallelujah! Let’s look at Matthew 28:19 (KJV), “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” These were Christ’s words to the disciples in a mountain in Galilee. God is called the Father and the Son. These two words are earthly attributes to God. These two words describe to be “persons.”

God can also be described like a person because He has a mind, He has a will and He has emotions. Let us explore some scriptures that show us these personality types. Throughout the Bible, we see God exhibit emotions. In Psalms 103:13, we see God to be compassionate. In Exodus 22:24, we see God talking about his anger. In Isaiah 43:4, we see God expressing his love for us. There are so many other verses showing God’s emotions throughout the Bible.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 and 18, we are introduced to God’s will. In 1 Thessalonians 4:3, we see that God’s will for us is to be sanctified. God has a Will. And lastly, God has knowledge. In Psalm 147:5, we see that God’s understanding is infinite. In Proverbs 2:6, we see that from God’s mouth comes wisdom and understanding. These are but a few of some verses that show off God’s personality.

Though the Bible strongly talks and exhibits God’s personality, He is like a person. This is because God’s personality is very evident to help us (humans) to resonate with Him and appreciate Him better. Even as Christians, it is hard for many to believe in Christ and His resurrection. As humans, we need evidence to accept things. God’s personality is His evidence to us that He indeed is God.

God’s personality is to help us understand, hear Him, but most importantly encourage a growing Faith in Him. So yes, God is both a person and like a person. Very intriguing right. Quite unfathomable, but He alone is God. He is Greater and Mightier than anyone or anything in this world. Hallelujah! Are you not awed by this awesome God!

Now, it is time for an alter call. If you would like to join a family where your Father is very understanding, loves you and is always there for you; kindly repeat this prayer. If you are looking to resonate with someone who cares about you and can fill your whole being; kindly repeat this prayer as well.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Congratulations!! You are part of God’s Family. God is happy to have you. Welcome! The beautiful journey begins now. God bless you. I would encourage you to find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship in. I would also encourage you to get a Bible and meditate on keys God has given to prosperity, success and joy. God bless!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
