The Genesis Story: Part 69- The Belief factor of God's Wrath.

Bible Reading: Genesis 20

Memory Verse: Genesis 20: 3

But God came to Abimelech in a dream one night and said to him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.”

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? Excited about what today’s message about? I am as excited as you are! Today, we would be continuing our journey through Genesis 20. We would be looking at the theme, “The believing factor of God’s wrath”

In today’s message, we would be studied Genesis 20 verses 3 to 10. In verse 3, we see that God came to Abimelech in a dream and showered His wrath upon Him. In the subsequent verses, Abimelech replies to God and goes on to give Sarah back to Abraham because he and his officials were fearful of God’s wrath.

One thing that came of this whole scenario was Abimelech’s belief. He believed that it was possible for God to act upon His wrath. This belief might have come from things he had heard about Israel; the Bible does not clearly state that. Abimelech and his officials first of all believed that there was a God mightier than them and who had the power to destroy them.

If you realize this belief was followed by action. God told Abimelech that it was because Sarah was in his house; death was upon him. Do you think that if Abimelech did not belief in God after the dream, he would have acted to save himself? No, he would have shrugged the dream and gone closer to Sarah. However, the believing factor of God’s wrath caused him to act to save his life and introduce God into his life and his household (through Abraham’s prayers for them).

This goes to show you that God uses different mechanisms to get people to believe in Him. There are some of you who have been praying to God for someone to believe in Christ and to enter His kingdom. You do not have the power to do this. God has! He decides how and when it will happen. The how can happen in many different ways like through His wrath. All you can do is keep on praying for that person. Hallelujah!

If you are reading this message and you feel convicted or you have learnt something new; you want to get closer to God and move from belief to Faith, then this prayer is for you. Repeat this short prayer with all sincerity in your heart.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!

Always remember to show love to everyone, as this is one of the most important commandments God left for us – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In every situation, before you take a decision, remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). Shalom.
