The Genesis Story: Part 79- Are you willing and ready?

Bible Reading: Genesis 22

Memory Verse: Genesis 22: 1b

He said to him, “Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? I hope you are great. Today, we are continuing our journey through Genesis 22. Today we are exploring our willingness and readiness to God’s call as Christians. Let us go right into it.

From the verse we are looking at, we see that God called Abraham and he responded. His response was not a negative one but a response showing his eagerness and readiness to obey God. As we explore this theme, I want to ask you a very simple question. “Are you willing and ready to heed to God’s call?” Think about this question very carefully.

God can call you for different things. From today’s verses, God was calling Abraham to test him. God can call you to instruct you to do something or help something. God can call you to advise you, comfort you or take care of you. He can call you for so many different reasons. Regardless of what God calls you to do, are you ready to do as He says? Are you willing to do what He says; no matter what it may entail? These are very important questions we, as Christians, must answer.

There are so many Christians who about talking about the sacrifices they are willing to make for Christ. When the time comes to act on their words, they never do. Do want to be this type of a Christian? A Christian with a weak Faith level? I know I don’t.

I will admit having faith may not be the easiest thing to do. That’s just how it is. Basing all your beliefs, thoughts, your trust in someone we can not see. As humans it is very difficult to do this. That is why God left us His word and a helper (the Holy Spirit) to make it easier for us. The question is “Do you have doubts?” If you do, have you read through the bible? It contains all the evidence that you need to have strong Faith. Spend some time reading it.

You must work to get closer to God; to enable you to appreciate Him. This appreciation would lead you to be ready and willing. Call on the Holy Spirit to help you. He is the helper God sent us as His children. Ask him to help you understand and appreciate God.

When you invest time in these two things (The Bible and The Holy Spirit), I can assure you that you will be willing and ready. I hope that as you have answered the theme question; you have learnt about the techniques to ensure your willingness and readiness. These techniques are needed throughout your Christian life as circumstances and situations come your way.

The important thing to note above everything is that God calls us only when He knows we are ready. From now till then, work on it. When God calls you; there is a lot of blessings attached to it. God bless.

The prayer below is for anyone who wants to find a purpose or fulfillment in life. This prayer is also for readers who have a strong feeling to have a closer relationship with this awesome God that we have been talking about. If you fit in any of these two categories, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
