Bible Reading: Genesis 22
Memory Verse: Genesis 22: 2
Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love- Isaac- and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? How are you enjoying Sammie’s Daily Dose this week? I am enjoying it and learning so many things at the same time. Today, we would be exploring the theme of making sacrifices to God. Let’s explore this some more.
From the verse, we see that after Abraham made himself available to God; God told him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. Abraham was supposed to kill his son and burn him. Wow! If you were in Abraham’s shoes what would you have done? Would you have gone back on your word after responding to God’s call and making yourself available to Him?
Well, there are many Christians who do this. When God calls them, they come up proclaiming that they are ready to do anything for God. They expect it to be all rosy and easy. At times, that is not the case. At times, God calls us because He wants to take us through a very difficult test, such as that of Abraham. What would you do in that situation? Would you be like some Christians who have crumbling faith and many doubts? Or would you continue to trust in God? Would you believe that He is with you through it all and He would not let anything bad happen to you? These are very important questions we all have to answer.
The main question we, as Christians, have to answer is: “What are you willing to sacrifice to God?” Are you like Abraham, who is willing to give up somebody he really loved? If God asked you to sacrifice something of great importance to you, will you be able to?
Most of the time, we focus on the present value of the item or person. For example, if I sacrifice my 1-million-dollar house; my net worth would reduce. What will my friends say? You are forgetting that the reward from the sacrifice would come in multiple folds. It would be greater and bigger than what you sacrificed. All in all, it is important for you to know that God would not let you sacrifice something or someone he knows you can not do without. God knows the end and He knows what you can handle. Just continue to trust in Him.
To help us go through these sacrifices, God has left us with His Word and the Holy Spirit (our helper). Through these two avenues, you will find the strength to go through the test and come out successful. These two avenues are essential throughout the walk with Christ. It should never be taken for granted. Hallelujah!
If you have a string desire to know God some more and experience His unconditional love, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
This is the end of the eightieth Part of the Genesis Story. How did you find it? Please give us feedback on how this message (and previous messages) have spoken to you. Don’t forget to subscribe to get notifications once we post.
Always remember to show love to everyone, as this is one of the most important commandments God left for us – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In every situation, before you take a decision, remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). Shalom.
Please spend some time praying for Sammie’s Daily Dose to continue to be the platform for the sharing of The Gospel. Amen.
