The Genesis Story: Part 84- Who are they people you invite to your home?

Bible Reading: Genesis 24

Memory Verse: Genesis 24: 3

I want you to swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. How are you all? Today, we are looking are continuing our journey through Genesis 24. Today’s message is going to be a very brief one. Let’s go!!

The verse is question is an instruction Abraham gave to his servant in charge of all he had. Abraham was looking for a wife for his son, Isaac. Abraham was specific about the woman that Isaac was going to invite into the house and spend his life with. This message is quite different from that we see on Sammie’s Daily Dose.

Here, we see that Abraham is very strict and careful about who his son was going to have as his wife. Many Christians get to a face where they have to make a decision to find a life partner. I have heard many cases of parents and children battling this. Just like Abraham, parents are concerned about marriage for their children. This is a life-long decision that can make or break a person. Many parents want their children to make the decision, so they are involved in their decision- making.

This message is not to say show you of the importance of parents’ input in your lives. Most of the time, we think our parents are against us. God has specifically chosen them for us. They are the best people to guide and teach us to be our own unique person. They do this with God’s help.

Though we are individuals with our individual journeys with God; our parents’ opinion is also a way in which God talks to us. We must consider it and pray about it, in our decision making. Do you realise that Isaac did not stage a “coup” or dispute his father’s order. Well, we were not told about that. This was to symbolize how we must listen and respect our parents. Isaac had the final decision as to who to accept. He could have decided to disobey his father and marry someone. He decided to go with his father because they knew that was what was best for him.

You might not always agree with your parents. Listen to them. Your relationship with your parents is a replica of how God’s relationship with you is. A father- child relationship. Listening to your parents is training on knowing how to listen to God. I hope this is food for thought for each one of you. God bless.

The prayer below is for anyone who is having family problems and are looking for a Father who understands you and loves you unconditionally,

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!

This is the end of the eighty- Forth Part of the Genesis Story. How did you find it? Please give us feedback on how this message (and previous messages) have spoken to you. Don’t forget to subscribe to get notifications once we post.

Always remember to show love to everyone, as this is one of the most important commandments God left for us – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In every situation, before you take a decision, remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). Shalom.

Please spend some time praying for Sammie’s Daily Dose to continue to be the platform for the sharing of The Gospel. Amen.
