The Genesis Story: Part 99- When do you realize your mistakes?

Topic: When do you realize your mistakes?

Bible Reading: Genesis 28

Memory Verse: Genesis 28:8

Esau then realized how displeasing the Canaanite women were to his father.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? This week, we are continuing our journey through Genesis 28. We began this journey last week; however, we were not able to go through the whole chapter. This week, with God’s help, we would complete this chapter.

Looking at the Genesis 28:8, we see that Esau finally realized how much his marriage to the Canaanites, displeased his father very much. Do you think that it was too late for Esau to correct his mistakes? Do you think Esau could correct his mistakes?

Well, the answer to the first question is “yes”. This is because Esau realized that his acts were against God; after Jacob had received his father’s blessings. This was what Esau strived for and wanted; however, he had lost that already. He finding a new wife was not going to be a great solution.

The answer to the second question is “no”. Well, during those eras, divorce wasn’t something that was really practiced. Esau thought the only option he had, was to marry another woman; who is not a Canaanite, and everything would be alright. However, that is not the case.

The story of Esau must be a guide to all of us. Anytime we want to make a decision, we must take our time, pray to God about it and think about what we are about to do. Is it according to God’s will? Is it beneficial to the people around us and to yourself? Are we going to hurt the people around us or hurt ourselves? Do not be like Esau; you realize your mistake after you have lost a lot of things and full of hurt and pain. Do not live a life of regret, hurt and pain. This is not from God. If you live according to the flesh, this is what will happen to you.

Always remember to live a Christ-like life. You are not missing out on anything. That is what the enemy tells you to get you to go against God. It is not the truth. Living a Christ-like life is a decision you and I have to make every day of our lives. Every second. Every minute. Trust me, it is worth it.

For Christians who have made mistakes in their lives. It is not too late. In Esau’s case it was too late because he tried to fix the issue on his own. Do not do that. You just worsen your situation. Go to God for forgiveness and ask for a way out. He would show you and teach what to do. That’s the luxury you and I have as Christians; it is never too late. We have a loving and understanding father who is ready to help us; ready to hold our hands. Only if you ask Him to help you. It is a decision you have to make. God never forces anyone to draw nearer to Him.

It might be difficult to make the decision to go to God for forgiveness. You think that you are not worthy of his forgiveness. God does not Judge us. If you cry out to Him with an open heart, He is willing and just to forgive you and cancel all your sins. Just make that decision.

Always remember to listen to God carefully and live a Christ-like life. Amen!

The prayer below is for anyone who is living a life of regret, pain or sadness; you have been trying to find a solution to no avail. God is your solution and He is waiting for you with open arms. Say this prayer with all sincerity in your hearts.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
