Topic: Diverse ways of Giving back to God

Bible Reading: Genesis 33
Memory verse: Genesis 33:11
Please accept the present that was brought to you, for God has been gracious to me and I have all I need.” And because Jacob insisted, Esau accepted it.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? I hope and pray that all is well with you. How has your day started off? Mine has started on a great note. I hope the same for you. Today, we are continuing our journey through Genesis 33 by exploring the theme, “Giving back to God.” Are you ready? Let’s get right into it.
From Genesis 33 verse 11, we see that Jacob was insistent about Esau receiving his gift. From the verse, we see that Jacob told Esau that God had blessed him, and he was satisfied. The gift that Esau gave to Jacob was a gift of thanksgiving to God. Yup! It was.
Today, we would be exploring the different ways/mechanisms to giving back to God. The first is giving back through people. An example of this is seen in Genesis 33, when Jacob gifted Esau with the various animals. At times, when we give to others, we are giving to God. In return, God blesses us immensely. However, this is not the case all the time. God has to instruct you to do this (usually through The Holy Spirit).
Do not use this as an opportunity to give bountifully. Yes! You can! God tells us to give to others! It is not every gift we give that is a direct gift back to God. This doesn’t have to be a large amount of money such as your savings; but God would direct you to exactly know the right amount to give. Hallelujah!
Another way of giving back to God is paying of tithe. Tithe is a tenth of your wealth. It symbolizes your gratitude and thanksgiving to God. It is essential to pay your tithe because we are rewarding God for His faithfulness. How would you feel if you came first in class or won a race and you were not rewarded? You would be very angry! You would say that your reward has been stolen from you!
In the same realm, God protects us, guides us and most importantly, He loves us unconditionally. Don’t you think God deserves a small token from us all? In Proverbs 3:9, the Bible says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.”
Like mentioned above, if we do not pay our tithe, it is like stealing from God. The Bible tells us this in Haggai 1:4-6, which says,” Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins? This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!”
The last we would be looking at is giving of offerings. There are many people who mistaken tithe as offering; they are two separate things. An offering is a freewill gift to God. This is given from the heart. There’s no formula of calculations. Offerings come in the form of donations to missions’ activities, church building programs and/or anything that allows the church or Christians to achieve Gods mission. In Exodus 35:5, we see the Bible say, “From what you have, take an offering for the Lord. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the Lord an offering of gold, silver and bronze…”
Today’s message is to show each of us that giving to God is very important. It is also to show you that there are diverse ways to giving back to God. As Christians, we must learn to give to God all the time. For without Him, who would we be? Where would we be? We are nothing without God. Let us learn to give a small token to show our gratitude to Him. Hallelujah!
The prayer below is for anyone who has been longing to get close to God for a while now; and does not know how to. Just make the decision to know Him now and say this short prayer.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
