Topic: How do you react towards others’ blessings?

Bible Reading: Genesis 37
Memory Verse: Genesis 37: 4b
… they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? I am great; by God’s Grace! How is your morning so far? Mine has been great so far! I am trusting God that the day would be great and filled with many pleasant surprises. Well, we continue our journey through Genesis 37. We would be exploring our actions and reactions to other people’s blessings/ promotions/ favour. How do you react to the news that the young boy who was last in class is now the CEO of a Fortune 500 company? Or your colleague at work won a big deal for the company? Let us see what we have to do as Christians!
From the memory verse, we see that Joseph’s brother were jealous of the amount of love and favour he was receiving from their father. This jealousy, then, turned into hatred. This hatred grew and filled their hearts that they could not speak to him kindly. There are many cases of this amongst our Christians brothers and sisters. And even between blood siblings; just like Joseph and his brothers. As Christians why do we do this? Do you do this when you hear or see the favour upon other people’s lives? Do you know some examples of people who do this?
Well, this must stop. As Christians we must support and encourage one another. When someone is soaring high, we must be happy for them Why? Well, because the world is full of seasons and times. Someone’s season is now; yours might be next year or in two years. Just know that your season is the right time for you to shine. Do not hate on people or feel jealous when you hear or see of someone’s greatness.
Why do you hate another person’s blessing? Do you know by doing so you have sinned? Hatred and jealousy are not from God! God does not like people who are driven by these emotions because they do not listen to Him. Their mind, soul and heart are filled with malice. God cannot reach out to talk to them. This could lead someone to miss their blessings. How? Well, God might be trying to talk to you, to direct you to your blessing. As you are not fixated on Him and you are distracted, you can miss this! I pray that this not your portion.
I pray that the Holy Spirit fills you; to help you to understand the importance of timing and love towards others. Hatred for other people’s blessing shows a huge gap/ hole in your understanding of love. Love for others is shown physically through support and joy for others.
Would you say you love your neighbor like you love yourself? This is one of the Commandments God gave to His children. Think about this very carefully. We are always in a rush to say we love others! In the case, why can’t you support your neighbor? If it were you, would you disgrace yourself from receiving the blessing? No! Think about this!
The prayer below is for anyone who has been living a life without love; thus, preventing them to show love to others. God is love and He is waiting for you with open arms. Are you ready?
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!

Always remember to show love to everyone, as this is one of the most important commandments God left for us – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In every situation, before you take a decision, remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). Shalom.
