The Genesis Story: Part 133- There is a Spread of Favour!

Topic: There is a Spread of Favour!

Bible Reading: Genesis 39

Memory Verse: Genesis 39: 3 & 4a

When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord was with him and the Lord gave him success in everything he did,

Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? I am doing great by God’s Grace. How did you find yesterday’s message? Did you learn a thing or two from the message? Well, I did! I have made the decision to ensure that God is with me always! I hope you came to the same conclusions, as well!

Today, we are continuing our journey through Genesis 39. Like yesterday, we are looking at Joseph's encounter(s) at Potiphar's house. Today’s theme (and message) is a buildup to yesterday’s message! The theme for today is “There is a spread of Favour!” To help us explore this theme, we would be looking at Genesis chapter 39 verse 3. Let us get right into today’s dose!

From the memory verse, there are two things that I would like to draw your attention to. The first is expressed vividly in verse 3. The Holy Spirit wants to let you know that once God is with you; everyone around you would notice His presence and they would attribute it to Him and Him alone. From verse 3, we see that Potiphar (Joseph’s master) realized that Joseph’s success was and could only be from God. Can you imagine! God is so wonderful that His works speak for themselves!

The second thing -the main point of today’s message- is that God’s favour upon your life would lead to a spread of favour all around you. In verse 4 (of the chapter under consideration), the Bible tells us that Joseph became Potiphar’s attendant because he found favour in his master’s eyes. Do you know the cause of this spread? God’s favour upon Joseph’s life. The Bible even tells us so!

Let us take a small step back to verse 3. You see that the verse begins the word “when”. This word is conditional. It shows that one event or actin must take place to result in another. When verse 3 is put into context, we see that Joseph found favour in Potiphar’s eyes because Joseph found favour in God’s eyes. Is that not awesome! This God does his things beautifully.

Today, the Holy Spirit is telling you that there is spread of favour around you! All the people around you- even your enemies- would favour you! Why? Because they have seen that God’s power and presence is over you! Trust me it is very visible when God is with you! The enemy can tell!

Like we saw in yesterday’s message, make sure that God is with always. With that, you will find favour in His eyes; resulting in the spread of favour. God’s effect on your life flows in multitudes. Hallelujah! Just remember, THERE IS A SPREAD OF FAVOUR happening in your life (once you have God with you!)

The prayer below is for anyone who has given up on life and its challenges. God is here to pour His favour over your life. All you have to do is call out to Him. Make that decision today!

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
