The Genesis Story (Part 134)- "We Are because He is!"

Topic: The Genesis Story (Part 134)-  We are because He is!

Bible Reading: Genesis 40

Verse of the day: Genesis 40:8b

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? How has your morning been? Mine has been great. Today, we are continuing with the Genesis Story. This series has been going on for a good part of the year. I pray that you have learnt some many things from previous messages, and you are going to learn many more things in upcoming messages. I would like to urge you to find the time and go through some of the (old) messages in this series. You will truly be blessed.

To help us with today’s message, we would be looking at Genesis 40:8b. The Bible says…

So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.”

For the rest of the week, we would be exploring Genesis 40. I would like to encourage you to spend time reading and meditating on the chapter. Now, let us get to the message…

People think that we are who we choose to be or become. Yes, that’s true to a point because God has a purpose for everyone; however, it is your choices, hard work and sacrifices that help you to achieve this. We do not have the right to live our lives the way we please because “It is my life and I can live it the way I want to!”

Today’s topic is very important because it is one of the fundamental truths you and I must know and understand- I am because God is. This statement encompasses many things. Let us take a look at this: Our existence was created by God. Everything in us, about us, around us, on us is from God. We are who we are because God put those abilities in us. Do you think God would give us something that is not of Him?

Here on earth, we hear a lot of comments/ compliments such as; “This girl looks like her father” or “This boy looks like his mother!” Other popular comments are “You are truly your father’s son!” and many others. The point I am trying to make is that just as we resemble and have traits like are earthly parents; so, do we resemble God and possess His traits.

As mentioned earlier, everything we do is from God. Our purpose in life is from God. Our looks are from God. Our brains are from God. Our gifts are from God. In everything we do, we must give God all the Glory and the honour because “We are because He is!”

God is strong which makes us strong. God bore all our guilt and shame so that we may be full of joy and happiness. God breathed into us the breath of life so we may live. God created you in His own image so that you may be His representatives on earth (to fulfill His mission). We are because He is!

This is an important statement that you and I must always remember. Be careful not to think that you are at the position you are because of your strength or your might. Just like Ephesians 2:10 says, “It is not by works so no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advanced for us to do.” Even if your only takeaway from this message is the verse, be reminded of it every day so that you may not falter.

Let us take a look at the verse of the day. Joseph tells the chief cupbearer and the chief baker that all interpretations belong to God. Joseph was able to interprete rheir dreams due to this fact- God holds all interpretations. Whatever we can do is because God is the master of it.

I would admit that as part of our nature (the human nature), we easily forget to become selfless for God. We have taken God’s Glory for granted. It is not only for the big situations/ encounters that matter; everything that concerns us is included. How many people thank God for their looks or a safe journey from your house to the junction or a great nap at the middle of the day? We think it is normal! We think it is our right to enjoy all these. We forget that it is by God’s Grace. I am a victim of this as well. However, as I am on this journey of renewal; I have taken a conscious and conscientious decision that “I am because God is!” With this, I do my best (with the help of the Holy Spirit) to acknowledge God in everything I do; even ideas and thoughts I have.

I would like to use this opportunity to encourage you to do same. It is not easy, but, as you grow in Christ and spend time in His presence, you would slowly get to a place where God is the center of your life.

The prayer below is for anyone who has given up on life and its challenges. God is here to pour His favour over your life. All you have to do is call out to Him. Make that decision today!

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family.  Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!

This is the end of the hundred and thirty- fourth Part of the Genesis Story. How did you find it? Please give us feedback on how this message (and previous messages) have spoken to you. Don’t forget to subscribe to get notifications once we post.

Always remember to show love to everyone, as this is one of the most important commandments God left for us – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In every situation, before you take a decision, remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). Shalom.

Please spend some time praying for Sammie’s Daily Dose to continue to be the platform for the sharing of The Gospel. Amen.
