Topic: Give thanks with a Grateful Heart
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? I pray that your day is off to a great start! Today’s message is not part of the Genesis Story series; it is a message God on my heart this morning to share with you. I pray that as I share this message, you will be touched by it.
As I woke up to write today’s message, the Holy Spirit put a song on my heart. I felt a strong urge to share it. The song is titled “Give thanks” by Don Moen. The song is a simple one. The lyrics of the song are:
Give thanks with a Grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son
Hallelujah!
This morning God wants me to let you know that it is time to Give thanks. As Christians, we tend to always ask for things; we barely give thanks to God or to anyone. We are grateful and give thanks when something great has happened in our lives. Today, God is telling you to give thanks, regardless of your situation.
One thing that I noticed in the song, can be found in the first line of the song; which says: “Give thanks with a Grateful Heart!” There are many Christians who give thanks, but it is not with a grateful heart. They were probably told to do so but do not see the reason why. As a Christian, everything you say, do or think about has to be embedded in your heart. If not, you do not mean it.
It is just like the love you have for God. If you do not feel it from your heart, then you do not truly love God. It is something that you profess for the world to know. You do not want that relationship. Why must we ensure that all we di must come from the heart? Well, this is because your heart carries all your true desires and beliefs. The way you live your life, the actions to take, even the words you speak are rooted in these desires and beliefs (in the heart).
In today’s message, just give all thanks to God Almighty for all He has done for you! With Him, you would not be alive today! It does not matter the situation you are in. Just as the song says God has given us His son, Jesus Christ, who has fought and conquered the enemy. Why fret? Give thanks!
Most importantly, Give thanks to God with a Grateful heart because God’s love for His children never ceases. 1 Chronicles 16:34 says “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” God would not let anything bad happen to you. He loves us so much and He is with us through it all. Give thanks; for there is no god or father as loving and faithful as God is. So with a grateful heart, give thanks!
Giving thanks happens in many ways. It counts when it is with a grateful heart. As Christians, we can give thanks by acknowledging God in everything we do. We see this in Colossians 3:17, which says: “And whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
One can give thanks by being thankful for the situation they find themselves. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tell us this! “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
