Topic: Who is God to you?
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? I pray that you have had a great morning so far! Today, Sammie’s Daily Dose is back again and this time we would be looking at our perspectives on who God is to us. In this new year, we must set some goals spiritually and strive to attain them. Exploring topics such as this helps you to do so.
If you are asked this question (Who is God to You?); what would your answer be? Some might speak of as being greater than the universe. Some might say “God is God.” Others would go on to describe Him based the relationship they have with God. There are quite a few people who would describe God based on what scripture says. Which category of replies do you fall under? If someone were to approach you at this moment with this question, what would your response be? Kindly be very honest with yourself!
As a Christian, if you are asked this question and you do not have an answer that is both Biblical and experiential; then you must revisit your relationship with God. This Christ-like journey is not a religion whereby we just practice what we are told in the Bible. Yes! There is an aspect of obedience to the Word, however, as a Christian you must have a personal relationship with God.
Having a relationship with God means that you relate to Him on a personal basis not a reported basis like many do. Not only that! His word becomes a part of you! It is embedded in your heart! Once this happens, your actions, your lifestyle, your character would be influenced by Him. You then experience Him! You communicate with, trust in Him entirely and live a life full of Him and for Him.
When some people hear of this, they get scared or skeptical! They think that this is a lot of work! Well, just like any relationship you find yourself in; you must invest your time and self for it to work. It is the same when you want to have a relationship with God. You must dedicate your time and your self to reading His Word, communicating with Him and waiting upon Him. Most importantly, you must allow Him to lead your life! Now is the time to invest in a relationship with God so that you know who He is!
As you experience God, it is important to know Him as He is (as well). From the Bible, we know so much about who God is! For example, we know that God is light. This can be found in 1 John 1:5, which says “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” We also know that God is a creator. We see this in Genesis 1:1, which says “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” We know that God is Spirit. Whereby in John 4:24, the Bible says, “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in Spirit and in truth.” These are but a few of the numerous things we know God to be (from the Bible). Now, it is time to know God for yourself (experientially).
Make that decision to do so today! This new year, it is important to have a closer relationship with God. Once you make the decision, you can strategically devote more of your time into knowing God some more. I can tell you; it is a beautiful relationship to
Cultivate. To know that there is a Father up above who loves you unconditionally. He is with you always; watching over you, protecting you and helping you to fight all your battles. He is such a wonderful and awesome God!
Are you scared to make this commitment? Don’t be! The Holy Spirit would help you to! You just need to ask him and invite him into your life. Need some help? That’s ok! Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
