Topic: The Genesis Story: Part 152- My Lord, My Shepherd
Bible Reading: Genesis 48
Memory Verse: Genesis 48: 15b
The God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, …
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? I hope you are strengthened and refreshed, knowing that God has delivered you from harm’s way! I pray that you are at peace and full of joy! How are you spending your time at home; this quarantine/lockdown season? Share some of these activities with us! We would love to hear from you!
Today, we would be exploring the theme: “My Lord, My shepherd!” I pray that this message speaks to you and blesses you! I am excited to receive the message today! I hope you are as well! As we are full of excitement; let us get right into the message.
To begin, let us take a look at the definition of the word, “shepherd?” The dictionary provided two meanings for the word. The first meaning is: tend sheep as a shepherd. The second definition is: to guide or direct in a particular direction. Well, the definition of shepherd (that speaks of the relationship between Christ and us-His children) encompasses both definitions. In our context, our shepherd is Christ! He tends to us; his sheep (His children) and guides us in the right direction through His Word.
Many Christians go about their day to day lives, forgetting that they have someone who tends to all their needs, someone who cares for them and someone who directs them in the right way! This person is the Lord! He is our shepherd! He goes the extra mile just for you and I. We must acknowledge his presence in our lives.
Even as we go through this difficult time of COVID-19, please know that you have a shepherd who cares about you and will direct you in all ways! Just acknowledge his presence in your life and build a relationship with him. He seeks to have a relationship with you! You can not enjoy the full extent of his love and care; if you do not develop a relationship with Him! This relationship means spending more time studying the Word and communicating with Him!
In Genesis 48 verse 15, Jacob was blessing his son, Joseph; one of the three ways in which Jacob describe God was “shepherd!” Yes! Jacob had felt God’s tender love and care over his life! You can too! I can! We all can feel and experience this- especially during this difficult time!
We all want to feel loved, appreciated and cared for! We can find all of this in God! You just have to invite Him in and build a relationship with Him. He would do anything and everything for you. He loves you and cares for you! The unwavering and undying love God has for us, cannot be compared to any other. He is the only solution to the gap you feel. Embrace Him and always remember that He is Lord and He is our Shepherd. Amen.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
The prayer below is for anyone who does not know God or maybe has been apart from God for a while. God is here to pour His favor over your life. All you have to do is call out to Him. Make that decision today!
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out
