So Joseph went up to bury his father. All Pharaoh’s officials accompanied him- the dignitaries of his court and all the dignitaries of Egypt-
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? I hope you are doing well! Today, we explore another verse in Genesis 50. We would be looking at “Favor and Honor!” This message is a short one; just to encourage you that with God; there are some earthly rewards you will enjoy!
Are you ready for today’s message? I know I am! Let us get right into it!
Many people think that, by making the decision to follow God, there are no rewards. That’s not true. That is the exact opposite! God rewards all His children! He rewards us in different ways! It could through your work, your family, or through any medium!
However, most of the time, people are expecting money or material things! Yes, God blesses and rewards with money; that should not be our aim or our goal! We should want to be children of God first before any other thing! When you are selfless and put God first; He can trust you to handle the material things! This is because he knows that these material things are not strong holds. This is a concept every Christian must understand!
God’s rewards are the best rewards! You do not necessarily have to be “stupidly” rich, to be whole or full! Or to know that God has blessed you! However, the little things that happen in our lives let us know! Good health is a reward from God! Joy is a reward from God! The “small” things account for a lot! Talk a step back and look at the many “small” rewards/ blessings you have been showered with! Where would you be at this point in your life, without them?
Let us look at favor and honor, looking at Joseph’s story! In Genesis 50, Jacob (Joseph’s father) had passed away! Joseph mourned and wept! He went to seek permission from Pharaoh to bury his father. Remember this, Egyptians did not necessarily like the Israelites. For Pharaoh to accept Joseph’s family when they came; was huge! That was God’s favor! Today, we would like to remind you of God’s favor over your life! God’s favor is the tool and the key, that allows doors to open for you! Hallelujah!
Also, we see from our memory verse (Genesis 50:7) that Pharaoh’s officials and dignitaries went along with Joseph to bury his father, Jacob. By this, they were not only honoring Joseph but Jacob as well! The key lesson from this is that “All will honor you!” Yes! No matter their race, nationality and religion; you (and your household) will be honored. This honor happens right here on earth.
Do not be disheartened! God knows and sees all that you do for Him! Do His work and His will diligently; you will be surprised the extent of your reward/ blessing- favor and honor would two of many!
Focus on God and He will focus on you! Have a wonderful day and remember to keep safe and practice all the health guidelines outlined by respective health agencies! God bless!
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
The prayer below is for anyone who does not know God or maybe has been apart from God for a while. God is here to pour His favor over your life. All you have to do is call out to Him. Make that decision today!
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out!
