Topic: Esther’s Glory: Issue 8- A tactical journey to the finish line
Bible Reading: Esther 5
Memory Verse: Esther 5: 7-8 (NKJV)
Then Esther answered and said, “My petition and is this: If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, then let the king and Haman come to the banquet which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will doo as the king has said.”
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? How has your week (and your day) been so far? As I mentioned in one of last week’s posts, we would be continuing with our current series “Esther’s Glory.” Are you excited? I am! The story of Esther holds many lessons for us. Today, we would be exploring one of these- a tactical journey to the finish line.
Are you ready? Let’s Go!!
“The race is not for the swift” is a very popular phrase- especially amongst Christians. As much as we don’t like to admit it; it is very true! This is applicable to every race or journey that we embark on in our lives. From education to work to nurturing relationships to completing an assignment for God; this phrase is applicable.
When we act quickly, most times, we are taking the wrong decision(s). Every journey in life (well, the journeys we take with God) is very tactical. Why? Well, as Christians, we are under the careful watch of the enemy. By virtue of calling ourselves Christians, the enemy is always planning for our downfall. We must be smart and tactical; so, we do not fall into any trap he sets. Thankfully, the God we serve is the Grand master! He has a grand plan for our lives- plans that override and destroy the enemy! Well, you get access to this only when we listen to God and follow His Word (concerning every aspect of our lives). This just doesn’t mean issues related to God’s work, but everything that concerns us and our wellbeing!
From the memory verse(s) of the day, we see that once Esther caught the attention of the king, she asked him (and Haman) to join her at a feast. This was a tactical move! Though we are told that Esther found favor in the sight of the king; if she had asked the king to save her people, it may have failed! Esther knew that after a wonderful feast, the king would be more inclined to help her out! Why? She knew that the king would feel “glorified” after a large meal. It is easier to get her point across (in front of Haman).
These are some of the actions and/ or moves we must take- that of Esther! Actions that puts us above all the plans and thoughts of the enemy! This is possible, only with the help of God. Such insights (and plans) cannot be devised by the human mind alone. Why? Our human eye only sees the physical. But as a Christian, we know that we do not walk only in the physical, but also in the spiritual. As we go through life, we need God’s help to direct (and expose) our spiritual walk. This is very important, as we move in this shady/ huge world.
Today’s lesson is a very simple and straightforward one! The Holy Spirit is teaching us to seek God in everything we do! The Holy Spirit wants to let us know that to be the winner in this race (called life) you must take very tactical decisions and moves. These tactical moves and/ or plans are revealed by God; we must learn to immerse ourselves fully in Him. So that He may direct our paths. God bless you all!
Prayer Points:
1. Ask God to reveal Himself to you.
2. Ask for the in-filling of the Holy Spirit.
