Topic: Our Journey with Christ- Point 1- The Call
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? It has been a while since we last posted on the blog! We hope you have not forgotten about us! We are here once again! We have been working on other parts of the ministry- now we are back!
For the next few days, we would be talking about our journey with Christ, as children of God! During our event this year, Sammie spoke on this topic! She would like to share the message with everyone who missed it! This mini-series is authored by the Holy Spirit using many great men (and women) in the Bible as references. Are you excited?
…
The beginning of this journal comes with “The Call!” Yes! A call from God! Everyone who is on this journey has been called by God! You may think otherwise because you didn’t hear a voice speaking to you directly. But you have! God calls us in various ways! It can be through a song, a sermon, an experience, a dream, etc. The conviction you receive in your heart to make the decision to come to Him- that is the call. Every single one of us have experienced this call.
This call is very important! You are not a Christian without this call! That is why you cannot call yourself a child of God, just because you go to church every Sunday, or due to the fact that you were “born into a church.” This walk with Christ is an individual, intimate journey and relationship. The basis of your Christianity is not associated to the pastor, a family member or friend. It based on your personal efforts to have intimacy with God.
[If you have not been called, don’t worry! As you read this blog post, the Holy Spirit is working on your heart!]
Let us look at a few examples from the Bible. The first is from Genesis 12:1- talking about Abraham’s Journey! The verse reads, “Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.” From this verse, we see God conversation with Abram- He was calling Abram (for an assignment!)
Some may ask, “God called Abram for a particular assignment in this case. Personally, my experience was to enter the body of Christ!” Well, that very true! The thing is once you enter the body of Christ, you have an assignment! There is a mission we all as Christians have- that is to be “Fishers of men- going out to spread the Gospel to all!” However, we have different ways of achieving this goal based on the talents and gifts God has blessed us with! For example, Sammie has this ministry which seeks to spread the Gospel through the blog, stationery, etc. Someone spreads the Gospel by singing, others through their business, etc. God gave us various talents and gifts for His work- to bring Glory to Himself and for our good!
Let us look at Joseph’s journey! Joseph’s call was in the form of a dream. Let us take a look at his story! Genesis 36:6-7 details Joseph’s dream to us- o he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.”
Every one’s journey is different! We all have different ways of communication, talents, gifts, etc. and God uses all these to communicate and bless us! Do not focus on someone’s experiences and/ or journey- God knows what best for you and how to reach Him!
We hope that this post has blessed and encouraged everyone- those already a part of God’s family and those who are not! Watch out for tomorrow’s post on Obedience. With the Call from God, the next step is to make a decision to accept the call or reject it. God bless you for reading!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
