Lesson 1: Passing the “humility” test- Acknowledging God before every task
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? It has been a while! We are finally back! This week, we are looking at stories of Joseph and Daniel. We would be drawing key lessons for us all!
As we go through our preparation stage, as Christians, we go through various tests and trials. These trials and tests run throughout our lives. It is essential to pass each test, before moving on to the next- most of the time, more intense or difficult than the previous. All these are in preparation for a particular mission/ land, God has prepared for you.
In today’s message, we would look at the “humility” test. Just before we are given our land or more so, before we get to enjoy our breakthrough/ fruits, there is an important test that we go through. This stage requires us to confess and acknowledge who God is! Both Joseph and Daniel encountered this stage! It is a stage a lot of Christians overlook! It is a key stage to accessing your breakthrough! That is why I refer to it as the “humility” test/ stage.
In Genesis 41, the Bible recounts Joseph’s encounter with Pharaoh; interpreting his dream. In Genesis 41:17, the Bible says, “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” This was Joseph’s final test! After this statement, Pharaoh tells Joseph his dream and Joseph interprets the dream.
Most of the time, a lot of Christians skip this statement and focus on Joseph interpreting the Pharaoh’s dream. Without Joseph’s acknowledgment of God, he would not have received his breakthrough. Why? Well, if Joseph hadn’t acknowledged God, then he would have been using his own might, knowledge and strength to interpret the dream. He would have failed the test! This test was to know if Joseph understand and knew who his position, as God’s son. It was a test to acknowledge who God really is!
The main takeaway from this lesson is to always put God first and acknowledge Him, in all things. Without God, we are nothing! We have to accept and know this- so that we do not use our strength and might to go through tests and trials. Most importantly, this is a test of humility. Can you humbly subdue ourselves and put God first?
When we look at Joseph’s story, he went through this “humility” test as well! All in all, every Christian would be faced with this test; which we all have to pass! In Daniel chapter 2, the king Nebuchadnezzar was looking for a wise man to interpret his dreams. This was the time whereby the king had decreed that all wise men should be killed if they are not able to interpret his dream(s). Daniel 2:18 tells us that Daniel (along with his friends) pleaded for God’s mercy- to be able to interpret the king’s dream.
From Daniel 2:18-23, we see how Daniel passed the “humility” test and God helped him to interpret the king’s dream. This passage is a clear indication of God’s power and strength. If Daniel had not passed the humility test, he would not have been able to interpret the king’s dreams. He and his friends would have been killed.
As Christians, we must remember that when we humbly serve God and put Him first; we will be successful. We have to pass this important “final” test; to enjoy our land/ the fruits.
Prayer Points:
1. Ask God to reveal Himself to you.
2. Ask God to prepare your heart.
3. Ask for strength.
4. Ask that God to equip you and help you through difficult times.
5. Ask God to help you to humble yourself
6. Ask for help from the Holy Spirit.
End with a time of praise and worship!
Have a wonderful evening and let God inspire you!
Today’s prayer:
Dear Lord,
I thank you for my life. I thank you for giving me another beautiful day. I ask that you guide me and protect me. I pray that I will choose you in every situation that I face. And that my life will be a testimony and an example to many that I have Christ living in me. Thank you, Lord, for sending your son to die on the cross and wipe my sins away. I lift your name high for you are Alpha and Omega. Amen!
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
The prayer below is for anyone who does not know God or maybe has been apart from God for a while. God is here to pour His favor over your life. All you have to do is call out to Him. Make that decision today!
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out!
