The Genesis Story: Part 42- Riches in Christ!

Bible Reading: Genesis 13

Memory Verse: Genesis 13:2

And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver and in gold.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? How was the weekend? I know it went well by God’s Grace. If you haven’t given thanks to God for all the wonderful things He has done; kindly spend a few minutes doing so. Thank God for your life, your family, your friends, your school/ work and all other things that are important to you. Amen.

This message is Part forty-two of The Genesis Story. In today’s message, we would be taking a look at riches in Christ. Do not be confused between riches and wealth; they are very different things. For this week, we would be focusing on Genesis chapter 13; the first verse we would be taking a look at is verse 2.

According to the Oxford dictionary, riches is explained as material wealth or valuable/abundant resources. In the definition a key word has come out of it: wealth. Wealth is the abundant increase/overflow in spiritual and physical resources. Riches is a type of wealth. The abundant increase in physical resources are known as riches.

We see that Abram has become a rich man. These riches have come from God as a blessing for His son, Abram and also a tool for Abram to bless others. One of the rewards God blessed Abram with was riches. This was to allow Abram a comfortable life. This is how God initially created humans to be comfortable and physically lacking nothing. Look at the story of Adam and Eve, God gave them everything they needed to be very satisfied and comfortable physically, in the Garden of Eden.

The first thing God wants to remind us of in this verse is that He blesses in the physical and in the spiritual as well. He blesses with wealth; as long as you follow Him and obey Him. The second thing God is reminding us of is the use of the riches. Yes, we are to live a very comfortable life with the riches; at the same time, we are to you the riches to bless others and spread the Gospel to them.

The riches God has given us is to be used as an investment in the lives of Christians. This can be done by supporting Christian businesses, supporting churches, supporting individuals’ lives. The riches God blesses us with are to be used to spread the word by funding missions groups or funding evangelical groups or funding fellowships and many other things. God has equipped you so that you can equip others to continue to share the Word to all nations; as we have been instructed to do.

Lastly, God bless us with riches to give us a seat the table. God knew of how fleeting and lust-full humans are. God gives His children these riches so that their voices would be heard. In the world we live in currently, only people with money have the “power” to influence things. God gives us riches so that when we speak, we would be listened to. However, we have to be very cautious. We must always stay humble and acknowledge God’s presence in our lives. Hallelujah!

If you want to receive some of these riches or you want to join God’s awesome family, kindly say this prayer with all honesty and sincerity in your heart.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

Never forget, nothing is too hard for God to do. You might be going through a financial stagnation or any sort of stagnation, but I write this message to you today to encourage you that your breakthrough is near. Keep on doing the work of God. He owns and controls everything on, in and around the world, nothing is too hard for Him to do. Just continue to have faith. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
