The Genesis Story: Part 54 - Sacrifice and Direction from God!

Bible Reading: Genesis 15

Memory Verse: Genesis 15: 8 & 9

But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?” So the Lord said to him, “Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.”

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing! Hope you had a wonderful and blessed day. We are continuing our journey through Genesis 15. Today we would be focusing on verses 8 and 9 of Genesis 15; under the topic: Sacrifice and direction from God.

From yesterday’s message, we went through the correlation between Righteousness and Belief. We saw that God regarded belief in His word as righteousness. Any time we obey Him or believe in His word, He credits us with righteousness. This is what incentivizes God to give you your breakthrough.

Today we are moving along to finding out the correlation between sacrifice and direction from God. In verse 8, we that Abram asked God for directions. And God replies him by asking him to offer a sacrifice onto Him. Here, God is telling us that when we seek His way; we must offer sacrifices on to Him. These sacrifices are pleasing to Him.

Whenever we offer a sacrifice on to God, He looks down upon us and find favour upon us. Abram was instructed by God himself to do this because God wanted to favour His son for his diligent work. So anytime to seek God’s direction offer a sacrifice on to Him. Now that Christ came to die for us, we do not need to offer sacrifices like they did in the old testament. There are so many ways to offer sacrifices on to God.

The awesome part is that God would show you and tell you what to offer to Him and when to offer. Christians do not compare your sacrifice to someone else’s; we are all different. God has created us differently to do different this for His Ministry. We are all focusing on achieving the same mission. Let us focus on that and stop comparing ourselves and being envious of each other. The sacrifice God would tell you to do is what you can handle and is enough for Him to favour you in multitudes.

So my brother and sister, stop spending your time on useless things. Spend your time wisely- with your eyes focused on Christ and the Holy Spirit. It would be the most fulfilling decision you would have made. For what is a man to gain the whole world and yet loose his soul. Amen!

If you are reading Sammie’s Daily Dose for the first time or you feel inspired this evening to join God’s family- by accepting Christ into your heart; kindly repeat this prayer.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you medi
