Bible Reading: Genesis 6
Memory Verse: Genesis 6: 6
And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? Hope you had a wonderful day? I had a really busy day but it was fun and exciting at the same time. I want you to remember to count your blessing each day. God has blessed you and I so much. I will admit there are times that I falter; I have made it my mission now to always be thankful for everything God has done for me. Whether it is pleasant to me or not. God bless you all for having open hearts as you read today’s message.
Today is Part 18 of The Genesis Story and we are looking at Genesis 6. This journey gets more intriguing every day. God has shown me the power of His love for us. It just so amazing. I was talking to a good friend of mine today and I was telling her of how awed I am about God’s love for His children. Its unfathomable, like I have tried to find reasons for it, but I cannot. This God we serve is breath-taking. I am glad I serve such a wonderful God. Are you?
Today, we are going to explore God’s feelings. Yup! If you didn’t know, God too has feelings. He feels what you and I feel. Throughout the Bible, we are told about the different feelings God experienced. Some of the emotions are love (John 3:16), anger (Exodus 22:24), compassion (Exodus 33: 19) and happy (Jeremiah 32:41). The emotion that is talked about most in the Bible is LOVE.
Today, we are looking at one of the emotions: grief. From the memory verse, we see that God grieved from the bottom of his heart. What caused this, you might ask? It is the sinful nature of man. Genesis 6: 5 says, “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thought of the human heart was inly evil all the time.” From this verse, we see that as humans we are naturally sinful. That’s the reason why we are always jealous of someone, always envious of people’s successes and others. There are a lot of Christians who do this and deny it. They are the first to dismiss such claims, meanwhile they are the number 1 culprits. Christians should stop being hypocrites and own up to their sinful ways and ask for help from God or others to keep them in church. An example of this are some politicians. In Ghana, some of the most corrupt politicians are church elders or very influential people in the church. Who are they trying to play? God? But how can you possibly think you are smarter than God? That’s very hilarious.
We see from the memory verse that at a point God regretted creating us because of our sinful nature. This sinful nature is with you once a child is born. The child is not taught it, the child is born with this nature. The Bible says that this sinful nature “… grieved him at His heart.” There are two important words that I want us to look at. The word “grieve” and the word “heart”. The Bible’s words are very accurate. The word sad or disappointed could have been used; instead grieve was used. I looked up the meaning of grieve, the word means deep intense sorrow. I hope we understand the gravity of how much our sin affects God. it causes Him deep intense sorrow. This sort of emotion is felt with something very dear to our hearts is lost. God is showing us that due to our sinful nature, He feels like He has lost us. It makes him rethink the reason He created humans.
The second word is ‘heart.’ So I looked put the word, there were two broad definitions I found. One was about the human organ the heart and the other was talking about the heart being the center of something. In this case, we are the center of God. When He grieved it hit him really hard. Normally we would say, “it hit Him hard.” His core became shaky and rocky because of the sinful nature of humans.
Today’s message is to show the effects of our sinful nature as humans. That is why we must conscientiously decide to follow Christ. Naturally, our flesh would not let us. That is why I mentioned in a previous post that our primary battle is the battle against the flesh. With God’s help, we would all be able to come out victors in this seemingly unending war.
Did this message speak directly to your heart? Do you acknowledge the gravity of the human nature? Are you prepared to give up that nature? Then kindly repeat this short prayer.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.
If you said this prayer, congratulations! You are now part of God’s family. Heaven is jubilating by your welcome. Hallelujah! You have been given new life. Hallelujah! You are already walking in eternity. To do so, I would encourage you to get yourself a well- translated Bible. Read it constantly. By doing this, you would be able to know and understand God better; as well as grow Spiritually. I will encourage you to find a Bible- believing church to attend, so that you can fellowship with other Christians. God has made you new. Your sinful nature is no longer a part of you. You have put on Christ’s nature. I will recommend that you read The Genesis Story: Part 6- Be of Good Nature! for more understanding on receiving a new nature in Christ.
I hope this message has got to thinking, like it has for me. If you are already a child of God, please renew your faith in Christ and this time please take it seriously. We cannot be look- warm. We must be an example to the world. I pray that God gives you the strength to diligent follow Him. Amen.
Have a wonderful evening and let God inspire you!
Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I pray that you protect me and my family this day. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
