The Genesis Story: Part 28- Sacrifice- A Way for God to Remember You!

Bible Reading: Genesis 8

Memory Verse: Genesis 8: 1

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? Did you have a good day today? Did you remember to live a life that represents Christ? As Christians, we are supposed to lead a life that is Christ- like. This s different from the ways of this world. The way we lead our lives, must make a difference in someone’s life. Every day we are to show traits of Patience, love, understanding, kindness and many other qualities. Take a minute to reflect on your day today! Did your attitude help someone? Can you say that you have made a difference in someone’s life? If you didn’t, I would urge you to start. From tomorrow, you can start by giving a smile to someone who is always mean to you or someone who looks angry and sad all the time. You never know what that smile can do in that person’s life. Don’t let this be a one- time thing. Try to do this daily. Be apart from the world. This can be a medium for which you spread God’s Word and God’s love with others.

Today’s episode is the twenty- eighth Part of the Genesis Story. Today, we are looking at Genesis chapter 8. We are focusing on verse 1. We are going to be looking at our sacrifices to God and what it means to God. This journey is allowing us to uncover many different things about God. We are discovering and understanding deeper things about God. Sometimes, I sit back and look back at the time Sammie’s Daily Dose began. I am awed by how far God has used me as a vessel to spread His Word. I am humbled and excited to know that God chose me. Ladies and gentlemen, whenever God choses for an assignment, embrace it happily. It is the greatest thing you can do and feel. It is also the most rewarding.

In the days of the Bible, people of God and Christians used to burn sacrifices unto God. When Christ came on earth and took away our sins, He took away this practice and allowed us to communicate with God directly. Even though we do not burn sacrifices, we still make sacrifices unto God. This is very important aspect in our Christian life.

The sacrifices we make in this modern times comes in various ways. A clear example is when we sacrifice our salary or savings by not spending it on things we want or sometimes need, but giving it to God. An example of this is giving the first fruit. First fruit is when you give your whole month’s salary to God. This is sacrifice. When we sacrifice, we are sometimes encouraged to add a request to it. Why? This is because the sacrifice serves as a symbol to remind God of our situation and ask for a “solution” to our problems.

This has been a principle that has run from the Bible- times till now. From the memory verse, we are told that God remembered Noah and all the animals and the cattle. The cattle were specifically mentioned because these were the animals that were usually used for sacrifice. God remembered Noah because He had not received any sacrifice in a long time, even from Noah. God remembered Noah and made the water sub surge for Noah to give Him a sacrifice. These sacrifices also made God very pleased that His children need and depend on Him.

Most importantly, these sacrifices are a sign of thanksgiving to God for everything He has done. You realize that throughout the Bible, sacrifices were giving before and after the blessing/ miracle/ breakthrough. However, we would go into greater details about the significance of the sacrifices of thanksgiving later.

For now, it is important for us to give sacrifices to God. This does not matter your social class or you’re the amount of money you have. It is about what is in your heart to give to God. God judges the heart and not the physical. Take a look at Mark 12: 41- 44. This is a story of a poor woman who gave an offering to God and hers (though it was the smallest) was most appreciated by God. Stand in faith and have a good heart, that’s all that matters. Hallelujah!

If you are reading Sammie’s Daily Dose for the first time and you want to join this awesome family that I belong to? Or You have a strong feeling to join such a cool family like the one I’m in, then kindly repeat this prayer with all sincerity.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

I want to encourage you to keep on living for Christ. It might not seem like an easy thing to do now but it is the most rewarding. For a life without Christ is no life at all.

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you.
