The Genesis Story: Part 47- Praise? All in Due Course!

Bible Reading: Genesis 14

Memory verse: Genesis 14:17&18

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale.

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen! I hope you are all doing well! It is time for another episode of Sammie’s Daily Dose. How has your experience been with us so far? Share your thoughts with me!

Today, we are continuing The Genesis Story with Part 47. We are going to continue looking at Genesis 14, however, today, we would be taking a closer look at verses 17 and 18. We are going to be exploring the topic: “Praise.” Praise is one thing we look forward to as humans. Today, we are going to look at the timing for “Praise” (as Christians). There are times that as Christians, we feel very downcast and ready to give- up beause we do not receive the Praise that we expect to have. This message is to encourage you and I to continue in God’s will because Praise is right at the corner.

Leading up to the two verses in focus, the kingdoms of Elam, Goyin, Shinar and Ellasar had battled against the kingdoms of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboyim and Bela. The preceding kingdoms won the battles. They seized the goods of the defeated kingdoms and captured some citizens. This included Lot, Abram’s nephew.

From the two verses, we see that Abram goes to bring back his nephew and defeated the kings of Elam, Goyin, Shinar and Ellasar. After this act, Abram was praised by the kings of Sodom and of Salem. The king of Sodom met with Abram, while the king of Sadem brought bread and wine.

These are signs of respect and honour. Kings are the people with the highest earthly power. At times to get these sorts of people to recognize you or meet you, would require a lot of work. In Abram’s case, he did not request to see or eat with the kings, instead the kings wanted to do. They were Praising him for restoring their kingdoms. In other words, they were “bowing” down to Him.

Can you imagine the president of your country requesting to meet you and dine with you? That would be fantastic wouldn’t it. Well, God is telling us that in the right time, we would be praised. We must not rush to receive all the praise and the attention. This is because when you receive a lot of praise and attention when you are not ready; it can destroy you.

God is encouraging us to continue to work diligently for Him. He makes all things beautiful and wonderful. In the right time, the praise you and I are looking for we would receive it. It will occur at time where we are ready to handle everything that comes with it.

Finally, God is telling us that if you do His work diligently, the praise you would receive, would be bigger than you or anyone else could and would have imagined. Just continue to trust God and believe that all things are working for your good.

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, be patient. Do not be in a hurry. For what is it a man to gain the whole world and yet loose his soul. Amen!

If you have been blessed by this message and you want to experience such unimaginable praise, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity in your heart.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your
