Bible Reading: Genesis 19
Memory Verse: Genesis 19: 8
Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But do not do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are doing? How are you liking the messages so far? Are you learning from them and being inspired at the same time? Well, this is the last but one post about Genesis 19; we would be taking a closer look at verse 8 in this post. Let us get right into it.
From Genesis chapter 29 and verse 8, we see that Lot was willing to offer his two daughters to the people of Sodom (to be defiled), instead of the two angels. Can you imagine doing this? Your two children given to some men in exchange for the protection of two angels? Be truthful in answering this question. Imagine how Lot felt when he made this decision. Imagine his wife and the two daughters as well. How do you think they would have felt? Though it seems like Lot did not put much thought into this decision, I am sure he did. I am very sure that he ran many possibilities across his mind before making his final decision. I am sure it was not an easy one to make.
This brings me to the question, what are you willing to give up for God? If God told you that He is taking away something or someone that is most important to you; how would you feel? Would you be able to continue to trust God? What about if you had the option to give up something, what would you give up? would you give up something that is of great importance to you or something that is of least importance to you? These are very tough questions that you and I have to answer. They are very difficult questions to answer but also very necessary in knowing your level of Faith and trust in God.
There are many people who say that they no matter what God takes away from them, they are fine. If you mean such a statement, then that is very wonderful. You understand what it means to give everything you are and everything you have to God. If you make such a statement, and you do not mean it. Then that’s very serious. I know quite a number of people who make this statement because it is required of the them because of their level of service for Christ. However, it is not the case. There are pastors and prophets put there who would not be able to trust God when someone close to them is taken away from them. An example is Charles Templeton. Chuck was an evangelist with Billy Graham. He became an atheist after his wife died of cancer and he couldn’t understand why God allowed her to die after continuous prayers for her.
Are you ready to give your all to Christ or you are partial? There is nothing like being grey. It is either black or white; which are you? If you decide to follow Christ, it must
