Bible Reading: Genesis 20
Memory Verse: Genesis 20:4
Now Abimelech had not gone near her, so he said, “Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation?”
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you doing? How are you enjoying the journey so far? We are halfway through this journey. I am very excited because I have been learning awesome things in the past two days. What about you? Today, we are looking at the theme, “The gentiles or unbelievers recognize His voice too!” Let us get right into it.
From the yesterday’s post, we saw that God came to Abimelech in his dream and told him that he will die because he has a married woman living with him. From today’s memory verse, we see that Abimelech responded to God and asked Him if He will destroy an innocent nation.
I want us to concentrate on the response Abimelech gave. The first thing he said was “Lord.” Can you imagine this? When your mother talks to you and you are responding, you first say the word “mum”, before you continue with what you have to say. Why do you do this? Well, it is because you recognize her voice. So regardless of her being next to you or far away, you know the voice and can respond to it with her name/ title.
From this verse, we see that Abimelech recognized God’s voice and responded with His name. this shows how even unbelievers can recognize God’s voice.
A lot of the time, I hear many Christians saying that the don’t know God’s voice. They can’t recognize God’s voice, etc. How is this possible? From this verse, we know that even people who are not children of God can recognize His voice; how much more His children?
Most Christians recognize God’s voice; however, they ignore it because it is most of the time not what they want to hear. They act on their own accord without God. Then afterwards, when their actions are not fruitful, they turn back and blame God. I pray that none of you reading this message are like this. If you are, don’t worry. The Holy Spirit is available to help you and guide you. All you have to do is ask and He will help you. Hallelujah!
