Topic: Is the Lord with me?

Bible Reading: Genesis 39
Memory Verse: Genesis 39:2
The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and lived in the house of his Egyptian master.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! How are you all doing? I am great, by the Grace of God! Are you ready to begin another awesome journey through a book in the Bible? This week, we would be looking at the story of Joseph in Potiphar’s House. We would be exploring some verses and the events to show many awesome things about being a child of God (and most importantly, following his ways).
Today, we are exploring Genesis 39 and verse 2. We are looking at the theme, “Is the Lord with me?” Let us get right into today’s message from the Holy Spirit.
From the verse that we are looking at today, there are two things that come as a result of the Lord being at your side or the Lord being with you. These are prosperity and favour. From the verse, we see that the cause of Joseph’s prosperity is the fact that God was with him; the Bible uses the words “…so that…” The use of this conjunctive phrase suggests that an event or action took place and lead to another. This part of the verse was pretty straight-forward. Now, let us look at the second part of the verse…
The verse says, “…and lived in the house of his Egyptian master.” This is the part that talks about favour. Remember, during this time, Joseph was sold as a slave to his Egyptian master. There are clear signs of favour, why? Well, during those times when you are a slave or a servant; you are a part of your master’s household. Note, once you are a part of the household, you do not get to live in your master’s house. The Bible says “…and lived in the house of his Egyptian master.” God is so awesome! Can you imagine? A slave/ servant living in his master’s house! Some may have thought that his master was probably going mad. Many would not understand what is going on! It was God’s Favour on his life, at work.
God does things that do not make sense; just to give Himself the glory. In this situation, who can you attribute this sort of circumstance to? Sit down to think about it. Imagine your gate keeper has been given a room in the house. His room shares a wall with yours. He eats from the same table as you and your family. How would you view this? In all honesty! You will think that there might be something wrong with your parents. Thoughts that may run in your mind may include, “But we are not on the same level!” “These old people must have some wires touching upstairs!” Unfortunately, they might seem rude and mean written down; but these are the kinds of thoughts that would run through our minds!
The main question to ask yourself is “Is God with me?” It is a very important question ask. Many Christians believe that once you are a Christian; automatically God is with you. Well, when you are a Christian, God is available to you. That does not necessarily mean He is with you! For God to be with you, you must show that you deserve it! What do I mean by this? Well, you have to tarry for Him. You have to seek His face! You have to listen and obey Him. Then God would see that longing for Him! Ready to make all the necessary sacrifices? I know that I am!
I more than ready to! When I get God to be with me; what do I want that I cannot get or have! He will supply my wants and/or needs; and even more. He will make me prosperous and His favour will be over my life- in every area. Even in the camp of my enemy, I will be favoured. Many doors would open unto me! This is greater than anything that this world can provide for me!
Are you ready to embark on this journey? It would not be easy; but I know that it is possible. You and I must prepare our hearts and minds to receive God! The awesome thing about this journey is that God has left us with a helper- the Holy Spirit! We have all the right tools and equipments! Hallelujah!
The prayer below is for anyone who is tired of walking through life alone! God is ready to hold your hands through it all! Just take the first step!
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
